i was lookin into buying a lathe and was wondering if anyone could suggest a low cost lathe that would work for a basher and a little bit of racing. i dont need the best just somethin that will get me by.

Just about any lathe would do the trick! Cobra, orion, integy makes more econo models. And honestly even the cheaper ones don't cut much different than my expensive hudy. On a budget consider used. I think the cobra with diamond bit is the best bang for the buck out there. The bit makes more diff than the lathe. Learn on carbide, then get diamond lather on. NOTHING cuts like diamond. If the lathe didn't come with one, you can get a diamond bit through tooling/machining suppliers for around 50bucks, which is like 1/2 the hobby route.
