savage, you'll have more play time and less bench time.

Honestly, I'd suggest an LST or an MGT over the two trucks you have listed, but between the two, the Savage is a better truck IMO.

I'd get the savage, it's a great truck that's really tough and it's got a ton of suspension. My opinion's probably bias though cuz I have a savage too. The Mammoth has proven speed if you want to go fast but the new 4.6 engine should be able to keep up.

The mammoth is better for racing than the savage, the savage is going to be your better all around basher, and the MGT is between the two.

Hey Buganddoug, my TNX is awesome, what a sweet truck that is, but of course I enjoy other trucks too!! Shhh!! don't tell on me!

everyone should try a tnx (i have tnx pro) at least once. the truck is incredible. i just sold my revo and i'm waiting for losi to start shipping lst's with good motors.

Just buy mine instead. I already solved the motor problem. Mine has a Picco .27. If you're interested, there's more info in the B/S/T Forum.

If you end up with a stock LST, you'll like it. They rock.

So how is the LST?

I think it's awesome. It's fairly tough, crazy fast, super easy to work on, and it handles like a dream. I think Losi did their homework, there's not another truck out there that excells at everything like the LST.

they certainly seem to excell at manufacture defects.

I agree with the test drive of the TNX. I have a TNX Pro. Far and away the best Nitro Monster I have owned. Parts quality is top notch, assembly and set up was spot on out of the box and the TNX Pro is the best deal going with the hop-ups it includes. The truck is fast, durable and handles great. I am totally satisified with my TNX. Try one out and I think you'll feel the same.

On to your question: Savage vs. Mammoth. I've had both. The Savage is a much tougher truck. If you plan to jump and bash a lot, the Savage is the only way to go. But it does a lot better going slow than fast. I like my Savage a lot but if it could get any traction the first thing it would do was roll on it's lid if you turned it. Jumping it gets an A+ and gives even rookie jumpers a good chance to get it right but for all out speed it's not the truck to have. The Mammoth is built for speed but not much else. The Mammoth needs a ton of upgrades to make it survive even mild bashing but on the racetrack it is a great truck. Where the Savage rolls over, the Mammoth will stay planted. The Mammoth has crazy top end and is a really fast truck but the quality and design of XTM's stuff is frankly sub par when compared to the Savage or the TNX. The 24.7 is a fantastic engine but other than that, the Mammoth is best left on the store shelf. If you live in California near a Hobby People and can drive to the shop for the drastically overpriced XTM replacement parts, you may be OK with a Mammoth but I'm from the East Coast and had to pay a fortune to buy and ship the same parts over and over again until I added about $300+ in alloy upgrades, CF towers and a massive chassis/tower brace. Even then, the differentials were always on the verge of giving up and slipped every time you accelerated hard, braked at all or landed a jump without the perfect amount of throttle.

Mammoth owners: Don't flame me. I was one of you and couldn't keep up with the parts and repairs to keep the truck on the road. I loved the engine but the truck built around it left a lot to be desired.

Savage Owners: Don't flame me. I had one of those too. Great truck for beating the snot out of but just not built to go as fast as people want them to. They do great jumping and getting beat on but are so unstable that I found myself walking a lot to flip it back over when I tried to go fast in any thing other than a straight line.

TNX owners: Tell me if I'm wrong but I think the TNX has the best of all worlds. It's fast but not stupid fast. It's durable and easy to repair but not so beefy that it's a lead sled and it handles jus the way a Monster truck should.

In closing: Buy a Savage to beat on. Buy a Mammoth to go fast and spend money on. Buy a TNX to drive any way you want and not think too much about. It's that good.

My 2 cents.
