I don't know much about savages because I never had one....
but you can try this...

1-stiffen springs on rear shocks
2-a set of aluminum clutch shoes will help the initial "GRIP"
3-a very nice low speed tune will help a lot, too
4-a few high speed passes will help warm the engine up and get it ready to go.
5-if none of this work... try lowering your gearing.... like... 14 teeth clutch bell (I don't know the stock setup for a savage)

I hope it helps....
here are some pics of my "old" T-maxxx popping some wheelies.... man it was fun!!

almost forgot....
you shoudn't have major problems with speed and tranny.....
just if you do it a wayyy too much!

see ya!

ow... a nice temp gun is very useful.

What's so great about wheelies? They just annoy me...you can't turn, the truck usually will end up on its lid, etc.

But if you REALLY want to do one, just try out the advice posted above. Also, the slipper clutch plays a big role in wheelies. Tighten it to pull a wheelie, but not too much or you'll end up stripping gears ;)

My T-MAXX has enough power to lift the front wheels off the ground the whole time your on the gas. It really sucks because you cant steer. I would be trying to keep all the wheels on the ground.

chrisoneal - Your 4.6 should be doing wheelies with ease. Is it new? Is it properly broke in yet? What temps are you running? What is your gearing? (15/49) What tires you running? What shocks? How is your pinch test for the LSN?

Tighten your slipper down all the way and back it off a 1/4 turn at most. The .28 (4.6) puts out alot of power so you really nedd to run the slipper tight or you will overheat the slipper pads from slipping too much.

Answer the above questions and we'll see how its runnin'
Thanks!

I'm running a Rustler and would like as much info as possible on this subject too.

ha, ha...
just folow "the instructions" above....

with a rustler is gonna be even easier to pull nice wheelies..

just add some trinity heavy duty springs on the back shocks (black ones)

a set of integy or Great assembly 3 pieces aluminum shoes and you're ready to go.

Back when I had my 2.5 Rusty it like to pull more wheelies at top speed as opposed to doing a wheelie right when you take off. I customized a TMaxx skid plate and mounted it underneath the Rusty rear skid plate for the perfect height of a wheelie bar. Once it got up on the wheelie bar it would just fly along doing a nice wheelie. It was a blast!
I think it was you I told earlier to get the Duratrax alloy shocks. The stock rusty shocks will pop the tops off easily. Those will help
