I recently dicided to build a 1/10th RC E-2C Hawkeye. For those of you who've never heard of it. It's a carrier based early warning twin turbo prop aircraft. The real one has an 80' span. And a big frisbee on top. I've never seen any models for it. Other than the wooden ones you find in various stores. I'm having difficulty planning an airframe and wing materials. I have all the measurements (will have when I get home). I just need some tips on building a giant scale plane from scratch. I know 1/10th isn't giant. But when the model has an 8' span and a 5' 8.5" fuselage, giant scale structure is important. I'm sure you've all seen them at the Blue Angels shows. They're all part of the Navy's recruiting program. I apreciate everyone's help with this. I'll be posting pictures of my project as it progresses. The squadron that owns the plane I'm modeling is really excited about this one.

I saw one up close over the weekend on the USS Midway deck in San Diego.
Pretty big when you walk under it's folded wings and see that big radar disc ontop.
If you have fuselage drawings with station cutaways you can make a plywood spine (profile or side view) and all stations (usually half looking fwd or aft just trace and flip and trace again for full frame) out of door skins or 1/8th lite ply interlocking them with half way slots. Then just fill the gaps with foam and shape it like a surfboard. Glass over the foam and you'll have a good start for a plug or fly it as is hollowing out for gear as required. Pretty much the same thing for the engine pods. A standard hotwire foam core wing with tubes drilled into the wing for removal outboard of the engines. Forming a canopy can be tricky but in your case I believe every window is flat so no problem with acetate sheets and some R/C 56 glue. Let me know if you need any further assistance by PM or email.
