I got a beat up clodbuster from a buddy of mine, for free a while ago. It needs a new chassis tub, servo, speed control, radio, and body, but it was free, so what the heck. I'm thinking about a Super Rooster speed control, but i'd like something cheaper. The stock motors are crappy, but work, so i'd like to upgrade them. And, i AM going to get some oil filled shocks, the stockers aren't doing crap. What motors, shocks, and speed control would you guys reccomend? And, i really don't want to spend a lot on an aftermarket chassis and such, so i'm just going to get a stocker, unless you reccomend a good cheap one. Cheapest i've seen is 125 for the boss kong, from rc mayhem. I've also been tossing around the idea of making my own chassis out of aluminum. Any suggestions on what to get for anything?

Thanks! :D

i hate you
i have been looking for a project like this for EVER!
you could try making your chassis out of some thick lexan, thats what i was gonna do
as for the speed control, the super rooster is well worth the investment
i dont know a whole lot about the clodbuster so i cant really help you a whole lot

post some pics of it in its condition

I think www.rc4wd.com would have a HUUUUGE amount of aftermarket goodies for the Clod, just don't waste money getting some sort of stock chassi when you could get a ClodZilla or Gecko or another super crawling chassi for not that much more...

I don't have any pics of it, but the axles, wheels & tires, linkages, and everything are in good shape. The one suspension link broke out of the chassis, along with the red brace, and the electronics are shot. I think it could be really cool though, given some time! :D

Well the only thing on a stock clod that is worth anything is the axles..

Ya, i was thinking about making my own chassis. I know a place where i could get some sheet aluminum cut out, to my design, for real cheap. I'd have to buy a four link still though. Not sure what the design would be, but i'd have to think about it.

I also saw on RC4WD.com, the Rage chassis kit. It includes everything i need, except a radio and servo, ESC, shocks and body. But it has the rear lockout, front servo mount, 4 link setup w/ swaybars, new chassis, and body mounts, for only $170. Looks like a good buy to me, what do you guys think? And i was just checking out the Duratrax IntelliSPeed ESC's. The 8T reverse is only 75 bucks, and i was thinking about running some 19 or 17 turn motors later on. Good buy?

I'd get the 8T Mtronik ESC instead, it's 8T reverse AND it's waterproof...same price :)

Err, dc I wouldn't send him to rccrawler for the rage. It's not a crawler chassie, and depending on who he talks to, it could turn into a flame fest. But if drifterx if you are interested in making a crawler, then by all means go there and learn. Slow is fun.

I'm really not going for a crawler, just a mod clod. Something that would have a good suspension, but still be descently fast, and fun to drive.

I was looking at an old plastic cutting board i found. Its pretty thick, and would make a good, lightweight frame maybe. I might cut some out, and see what its like. I could dye it black too.

Get some sorta wheel wheel wideners if you going to have a mode clod.It keeps the tires from rubbing on the lower links.Inetrc & thunderteck make diffrent versions

Get the T-Maxx adaptors instead, they widen the wheel as much but you get the added bonus of being able to mound more wheels/tires combos...
