View Full Version : Tyres for T-Maxx
Ok here we go,
I want to get a new of tyres for my T-Maxx.
Question is what type?
I run mainly on clay, grass and gravel.
I don't mind getting a couple of sets, say 1 for clay, 1 for gravel, but is there something that will work well on all surfaces?
There's a couple of us who meet and race, just for some fun nothing major, so I want to get a good set of tyres that will give me traction mainly on clay and grass.
An ideas would be appreciated.

Yes there are tyres out there that will work on all surface as we race the savages on multi surface tracks what i use is the Hobao Block Tread and i cannot fault these at all probably one of the best tyres i have used and last along time to i have had 12 months out of the set i got know. They are just loosing some of there block tread know but apart from this i have no other problems with them whatsoever.

This may or may not be useful to you. I just put some HPI Nubz on my t-maxx and its unbelievable how much faster it is. It accellerates so much faster than before its amazing. I think I could race against buggies and do pretty well. I have a decent buggy and i could get around the track faster with my t-maxx w/Nubz and an .18. I forsee these tires causing controversy. They are the same diameter as regular maxx tires though, unlike the "cheater" komodo dragon tires by panther. We'll see this sunday...

For all around usage, the Pro-Line Mashers are pretty hard to beat. They dig in really well everywhere, they look badass, and the last a while.
For a little more traction still, but a bit shorter life span, the Pro-Line Mulchers are awesome. They'll wear quickly on hard surfaces (like pavement), but they'll grab well. These are my favorite tires.
The Losi Zombie Maxx tires are super badass, and really grab extraordinarily well, but they wear farely quickly as well due to their soft compound. Many people swear by these tires, and given their similiarity to the Mulchers, I don't doubt their capabilities in the slightest.

i would go with the panther komodo dragons. they give so much acceleration and grip its crazy!

I agree. I have zombies and like them a lot. They look awesome. Great in grass and dirt. Ive had limited use in gravel, maybe a few minutes, they did fine. I havent ran on a clay surface so dont know but given how they work on packed dirt I feel they would work "well" on clay.

just remember that the bigger the the tire the more resistance off the line i got the hex 40s rims and the masher tires and had to pull the 4 wheel drive out to get snap back

Stock Tmaxx chevron tires and wheels are heavy. You want to reduce this rotating weight as much as you can - that will increase your acceleration and snap off the line. Stock tires ands wheels weigh 310grams.
I run the Sportmaxx wheels and traxxas Sporttrax tires, they're good on all surfaces and they weight 233gr. They made a big difference in the way the truck drives. There are other good choices out there.
