While visiting my buddies Klaus & Andre, we did a little shop time & I learned a few tricks. Lets just say I can't wait to get my new Lathe & Mill. Not going to buy it this year so it'll wait till next.
My wife is the one who suggested I start a new chapter in this hobby and has been doing more research about these things than I have. What a woman. :)
Here's what Klaus turned out for me. Any ideas to start?

Its an exhaust tip for the Wavefighter. :)
Since Eric gave the idea about running the exhaust inside, it needs to have nice tip where it comes out. Now to spend some time on the boat & get it finished. Fully enclosed exhaust & no more ugly crap hanging over the back.

Sweet DD. Your welcome for the idea:D Just kiddin. That makes me want to just get a little one so I can mess around. What else could you make with it??? Could you make other harware???

Your mind is the limit on what you can do with these machines. They make all they're hardware, rudders, struts, mounts EVERYTHING. I just want to dink around and experiment with things like this to start. Its all about trial & error, learning as you go and pushing further.

Yeah, you need to buy a Smithy so you can mill & lathe on one machine!

I have asked about buying a combo from these and other resourses. Same answer comes back. For doing precision work, its better to have two separate machines. Believe me, I'd love to save the money.

I have to agree as far as precision, BUT, you're not building a swiss watch. A smithy or other combo machine should be easily able to hold a tolerance within a thou (0.001" or 0.025mm) so I say get the combo & save some dough. I'm spoiled though - I have a lathe & vertical mill at my disposal at work. I also have access to a cnc machine if I bribe the operator. Thinking of doing a 4-wheel vented disc brake conversion on the bug but not sure how many cases of beer I'll owe him.
