What is the length of the antenna wire for a JR Ch 80 receiver? I bought a used receiver and the antenna is only 12" long. Seems short..........

Different manufacturers use different lengths. Futaba seems to use shorter ones, Hi-Tec has some that are really long. It's all in how the recievers are tuned. If it's used, I hope that some wasn't removed.

OK, you made me do it! I had to go down and measure a Futaba RX antenna length and I got 18-1/2". I hope that somebody didn't do some snipping.

Thanks. Maybe someone out there has a JR receiver. My guess is that, regardless of manufacture, a given freq will have a standard antenna length.

No. They are tuned to a frequency band not a channel, the crystal is what determines that.
Each manufacturer sets their recievers up to their own antenna lengths and dial them in on the circuit board. They are adjusted for wavelength. Using CB radio as an example, a half-wavelength is 108". On on a base loaded antenna, one that has a coil at the base, the antenna's wavelength can be adjusted for best transmitting and recieving strength using a meter.

Thanks for the info. I ran my boat today (American Enterprise) and everything's fine within the 50 yd distance I usually run.
