I think it is a myth and somebody has been spending a bunch of money advertizing a myth!
Get you the Schulze U-Force 75 ESC and Plettenberg Extreme motor. You will not be disappointed!

That's just the speed control (I didn't even know it!):

Motor is on backorder though:

$180 is a lot for that speed control IMO. You can get a Warrior 9920 for $200 or a MGM 120amp for $185, and each can handle much more voltage (more powerful motors) than the Sphere. I realize that it can handle brushed motors too, but most of us already have a brushed speed control picking up dust right now.

good to see that someone has the controller in stock. hopefully towerhobbies will have some soon. as for the price I dont think its bad, true it doesn't support high voltage but for racing you are only allowed 6 cells so its not an issue.

The Sphere is more comparable to the $280 U75 with brushed/brushless duties and I assume a much more refined software setup.
Of course, the Sphere is only for sensored motors though. Maybe the new Novak motors will rock... and make sensored motors compete with Hackers and Lehners for 1/10 scale stuff.
If Novak gets it right with the new system it will be hard to pass up for the money. They need to get the size and weight down and the power up... the new system looks like it's a big step forward.

hopefully I will have my system soon. tower now lists my backorder as processing in warehouse, so it shouldn't be long now.

I did.
I should say that the Sphere is the most sophisticated controller on the market right now.
One thing I don't like is the unsmooth start. It seems that the lower RPM ist not infinitely variable, it just turn high at sudden.
There is no cogging and everything remained real cold (98 degree).
The Neo One is much faster than the Novak SS, but i guess the Novak SS has more torque, which remain useless, due the shortcoming of the controller.
The Lehner 5300 has a bit more torque I guess, not sure though, I have to test Neo One on an 4 lbs. ST first.
The runtime is very short with GP 3300, it's about 8 to 10 minutes.
Since the Sphere is compatible with the Novak SS 5300, Nosram Storm and LRP Vector, you are not forced to buy the Neo One.
Upshot: buy it!
