I just noticed this evening that firmware version 4 has been posted to Schulze's website. Version 4 could be a very worth while upgrade for users running 4S Lithium or higher nicd/nimh cell counts. It seems they have added overvoltage protection during braking.
When you brake the motors energy is converted into heat in the controllers mosfets, obviously high voltages can be generated and I assume its possible for them to exceed the maximum voltage rating of the mosfets - this could of cours e could be fatal for the controller. It seems if the controller detects a high voltage during braking version 4 firmware will dump the voltage into the battery pack, which will in turn limit the maximum voltage the mosfets see.
