You should like the power the 5800 provides. Go with the 3300 if you can, the 1500 will not last too long. As for gearing 72T spur and pinion 23-25T

For gearing, you will want to run something that gets you near 12:1. so like an 87/19 would be close. You can go up in pinion from there. I think Vad was thinking you said TC4 and not T4.

Yes that was in reference to TC4.... disregard my previous post.

Go HERE (Novak Gearing Chart) (http://www.teamnovak.com/download/instructions/pdfs/ssplus_prgmGear.pdf)
And start with what Novak recommends....I have a S5800 in my T4 and thier recommendation was right on the money for me....
But really its going to vary depending on the application...
Hope this helps...
oh and btw when you get your system in you will find the same gearing chart in the directions...

Is this sytem more powerfull than a revoltuion 12x2 with a tekin 12ciii esc and 6 cell 3300mah? I run a 18t on the motor and it will wheelie and hold it for a bit if I tighten everything up. Otherwise it tears on a track. But I'm just sick and tired of having the com cut and spending time and money on springs and brushes.

How does the SS5800 compare to the LRP sphere setup? "neo 1" is the lrp a better setup? or is the SS5800 a better setup for me?

I'm only looking for the same power as what I have now with better run times and I want it as cost effectively as possible. "probably used once I know what to get"

Jackyl,
You've been asking this question a lot lately. I don't think anyone is going to be able to give you an exact answer. What I can say is that the Novak 5800 has good power. I can't imagine your 12x2 having significantly more power. I don't have any top-speed numbers, but a number of people at my track have commented how hard it pulls.

I bought mine because I also wanted to avoid comm cutting and brush replacement. So far, mine works well in an old T3. The extra runtime over a brushed motor is a welcome bonus.

I've been hearing prices of $150-$165 for a refurbished/ebay SS5800. Definitely worth your while to try one out. If its not enough for you, you can probably get back what you spent.

When the price starts to hit the sub-$100 range shipped for these, I'll buy a few more for some of my other cars.

Get the neo 1. The novak ss5800 may be fine at first, but it's easy to grow out of it and want more power. You can always run the ss5800, brushed motors and possibly novak's velociti motors on the sphere.

I'm looking into cheaper alternatives to the novak and sphere esc's. I would never want to go back to a brushed motor once I'm brushless.

Does the SS 5800 setup rock the T4? And are you going to see a differance between the 5800 motor when you use the super sport or the super sport plus esc's?

I have tried the SS and the Reedy as of a couple of days ago. They both have more torque than I know what to do with. Depending on the size of the track the reedy is better. It pushes my t4 around a little faster. The biggest thing is the drag break that comes on the LRP speedo. So get the SS+ if you get the Novak. My Novak ran for over 1 year with me abusing it.
I sent it in and the replacement is having problems. But I just need to call and they will fix it. Novak support is top notch. If the LRP last to the same abuse then it is worth the money. I am talking 12 packs a weekend every weekend. The only thing that really killed it was a tangle with an 1/8th scale.

My Novak Super Sport Plus and 5800 should be here saturday. I went with the novak because I'm pretty sure that you can send it back to them and upgrade if you want to. And who knows maybe I'll want the GTB and velocity 5.5 in the future :D I just can't wait to see how this thing goes. and how the runtimes are affected.

I'll report back probably sunday :D
