Ok well I have the LRP Sphere and Reedy BL on the way, should get it in about 3 or 4 days. I'm going to put it in my factory team T4. Does anyone have any sugestions on gear set up? How fast do you think it will go???
I was going to put in the Noval SS 5800 but got outbid on ebay....so I got mad and said what the heck, just get the latest and greatest....hope it is fun?

You'll be the first that I have heard about. It is so new that ebay is the first place I have seen them.

One forum user from Germany named Mangokiwi already has it installed.

I also was wondering about this for the same application. I'd like to see how it stacks up to the new mamba maxx from castle creations. I have read the review in xtreme rc about the sphere brushless setup and it said it's great up to low turn motor compitions like 5x1. WTH ? :D I mean I don't know anyone that runs a 5x1 in their stadium trucks. I have a 10x2 revolution in my T4 and I like the power "when it works" But I'd rather have brushless. The review was being based on a touring car, not a stadium truck. I think that this system will really rock in a stadium truck as reedy has said that it's real world equal to a 5t brushed motor. The novaks are only equal to like a 10 or 9 if that from what I have heard from novak ss owners.

I actually thought about getting the castle creations barracuda 80 esc and then the neo brushless motor. Castle says that their esc will work with any brushless motor "sensor or sensorless" and I honestly think that Castle Creations makes some of the best brushless kits on the market. "for the cost!!"

Maybe the 5t is brushless 5t? Brushless motors have turn ratings too. The Novak 5800 is an 8.5t, and the new Novaks are 6.5 and 5.5.

I have the sphere and neo 1, and it works well. Similar to a 11 turn brushed, or so.... You will be happy with it. Just make sure to gear it fairly low....
Brushed motors are so 80's.....
FYI, just make sure if you ever run a brushed motor with the sphere to remove the schotty diode, or you will toast the controller......not that you will ever want to go back to a brushed motor!!!!!!!!!
Enjoy.

How low should I gear it?

11T brushed? Are you sure? Most of the reviews that I have read and seen say that it's closer to a 7x1 brushed motor. just with weaker breaks. I just want it to have more power than my revolution 12x2.

No way the neo 1 is equivalent to a 7 turn brushed. The lehner 5300 spins 5300 kv under load, and it's only comparable to about a 9 turn motor. The neo 1 spins about 6000 kv and that's NOT under load. So if anything the neo 1 should be close to a 10 or 9 turn motor. And the novak is more like a 13x3 or 12x2 with more torque, a 10 turn will kill it on the top end. :)

Will this sphere setup be as powerfull if not more than a revolution 12x2 and 6 cell 3300mah ? That is all i'm after and I want to get it as least expensive as possible. I've looked at the hacker and lehner options and OMFG!!! That is just to much for me to spend at this point in time.

This setup should be more powerful than a 12x2.
Actually, the price of the Sphere/Neo is more expensive than a budget Feigao/MGM system that has similar (if not more) power!

I gear my Sphere/Neo 14.1:1 in self made off road truck
weight: 1793 g
Wheel diameter: 100mm
Top speed about 34mph
Motor temp after 8 minutes 98 degree.
Controller(measured at the heatsink) 96

Is this a better setup than the new novak's "5.5 and 8.5" ? I'm just trying to find out what is going to be the same or a little better than my revolution 12x2 so that I can try to find it used. I don't want to spend 200+ on a motor and esc!!

Anyone know of a site that compares brushless setups in a stadium truck with 6 cells?

from the sound of things its seem that the spere is over priced and does not have considerable performance over the novak SS5800 itself which means that the newer novak ones will probably be more powerful than the speres.

If we were talking about the motor, yes the new Novak could possibly more powerful(more torque) than the Neo.
Let's wait until the Novak Velociti comes out.

Just by reading different forums/magazines, everyone seems to compare the same sphere/neo to a different turn motor. I think the one thing that everyone is forgetting is that not all brushed/brushless motors are the same. 2 brand new motors can have diffrent rpms. How well the brushed motor was maintained will determine 'how fast' the brushless motor 'is'.
