It looks like he'll be hanging onto it for another 20 years! I've seen these as recently as 3 years ago and could have bought some at swap meets, one was $75.00 with batteries! I'd like to see who is dumb enough to lay out that kind of money for it. It's not that it wasn't a bad boat but it simply isn't worth that kind of money with all of the newer and better boats now on the market at lower prices.

No way - I had that boat! It had a couple microswitches mounted to the top of the servo for the throttle. I finally tossed what was left of it sometime last year when I found it in the basement. A buddy of mine has a video of me running it into a submerged 2x4 that was floating out in the lake. It tore off my turn fin & prop which took me a week to fix. The piece of wood was waterlogged & not above the surface of the water anymore. Seems I always have my worst luck hitting things I can't see. Like the time as a teen I was 'turfing' a lawn with my headlights off (mom's car) & hit a pile of woodchips & went all Bo & Luke. I guess they had decided to do some landscaping since I was by there earlier. No idea just how much air I got.

What's really bad is that is the early version. The late version had the decals already applied and cost about half of what he is asking

I still have 1 of those same condition and 2 of the Pringles in the box same condition and tried trading for the newer model with the wigglets but no luck. I would sell mine in a heartbeat for that kind of money LOL about $100 is tops and I'm an MRP collector :D

Hi everyone
You guys are right . The Ebay add is a total ripoff. The boat at beas is maybe worth $80 to $120 . If run as orginally intended ,they are dogs compaired newer LSH boats. I have three of them. One I have modified to work with a SS1 700 type motor using much bigger props (M445,P220 and K45). The boat really runs good now. It can run 33mph + for five min or more with good 3300's. Its not reall all that hard to do either. The worst is makeing a new motor mount for the 700. Once that is done the rest isn't so bad. n.h.schmidt

Actually the car wasn't messed up at all. It bent the front license plate under the front bumper, but in Michigan you don't need 2 of them anyway so it got tossed. Car was still great - my mom had it for a few more years. It was a '77 Olds Omega which was a 6 cyl Nova clone. Not the cool Nova years, the later years where they got boxy. Anyway, we went back the next day to check it all out & I hit that woodchip pile dead center. I couldn't have planned it better. It had to have been from a dump truck because it was a tall mound (about 3') & about 8-10 feet wide. From what we could tell we flew more than 20 feet. There were a few surprises back then driving my mom's car, but that's for the off-topic forum.
As for the MRP Bud, it was what it was. It had a plastic hull that you had to reshape so the bottom had some bite to it. But it had a cool nylon gear setup to run 2 motors on 1 prop shaft. I enjoyed the snot out of mine. Every now & then the solder at the batteries would get warm enough to desolder themselves, but reattach & just keep running it. Heck, I never even let my batteries cool down & they were those horrid Saft battery packs. Saft was one of the first to make the 6-cell packs like we see today & I don't think they were any larger than 1000 or 1200mah back then.

It's not like this is a '57 Nomad with almost no miles on it!
