Well today I decided to get my evader out and run it a couple of times to cycle the battery and see if I still had my good old driving skills. Everything went great, motor seemed fine, which I figured it should be since I just got it a few weeks ago and it has maybe 10 runs on it if that. Well I decided I would clean up my truck and oil bearing. etc.etc. So I get to the motor and start taking the endbell of my Brand New Speed Gems Pro Amber motor and pull the arm out and to my horror I see that somewhere along the road, be it this last run or another one at another time, a rock as it appears has been flung inside my endbell and chewed a a couple of the windings up. It wasnt shorted out but one wire was completely broke and another was nicked but still intact. I cant even begin to describe how I felt when I saw it. Its like the life just drained from me when I saw it. Anyway, I tried repairing the broken wire by laying a bead of solder over it while holding it back with a pair of pliers as to make sure it was still wound tight. So far after one run its held and the motor feels great and strong but now I believe im just gonna buy another arm as soon as I can make it back to my LHS. I just wanted to tell my story, I needed a place to vent. Anyone ever had similar experiences?

Ya I was hoping to get quite a few runs from this motor before any major repairing/replacing took place but then mother nature decided to throw a monkey "rock" so to say and ruin that.

evader85 - this article (http://www.rc-resources.com/guides/shock-wrap.shtml) is about keeping your shocks clean, but look at the bottom right image. You can use it to wrap the motor to prevent this, and no it doesn't cause it to overheat. I've done this for years.

Hmm that doesnt look like a bad idea. Ill have to see if I can find that around here somewhere. Thats another thing I hate, is dirty shocks becuase it all cakes up around the spring supports after the shock is compressed.
