What motor should I use if I want to use a 14.7V 2500mah 20C lipo lack and an MGM 8012? Would a Lehner 4200 be safe and OK?

Which car are you using? 14.8v is too much for the Lehner 4200. That voltage is better for the Lehner 3100.

I don't have a car yet. I'm just planning this in case I get the TTech X10 Predator when it comes out. I bet that thing will be soooo awesome with a brushless setup.

Is 14.8V really too much for the 4200? Daff used a Basic 4200 with 14.8V in his Pro4 with no problem. This is what I'm mainly concerned of:

-Would the amp draw from the motor would be too high for the battery?
-12 regular cells = 14.4V. Would a 4S 14.8V lipo pack be ok for the MGM 8012? I know that it works with the UF75.
-Would the Basic 4200 ever draw more than the 80A limit of the 8012?

The 4200 heats up a lot when you use that sort of voltage on it, because it is no longer in its efficient RPM range at 40,000RPM. Instead, it is spinning at about 60,000RPM.

-The motor's amp draw would depend on gearing, total vehicle weight, how free the drivetrain is, and how the car is driven. Since so much voltage is being put through the motor, it is going to draw more amps than it would if it were spinning closer to 40,000RPMs. What is the amp draw rating on your battery? I have a feeling that it can't provide the required amps even with a Lehner 3100 without getting hot.
-The MGM controllers have a built-in Lipo cutoff for up to 4s.
-The Basic 4200 would pull more than 80amps at times. This is usually under hard acceleration. And on 4s, you could expect undesired heat to build up in the MGM 80amp.

Feigao 380-13S perhpas? I will test soon with 4S3500mah 12C lipoly.
