Don't know what to say. Let the GPS string get too close while running the Fighter today and here's what happened: :p

If there is a sad part, its not just the fact that it happened,... its the fact that it happened to a brand new stinkin' engine w/mods :p LOL.

Dang, I'm tired. Check the thread over in the Gas section about todays events if you like.

Ouch!!!!
I feel your pain, bro.

That's gotta suck. Man. Just running along, when it sucks in the GPS cord, and messes up the engone. How bad is it? Do you need a new piston and sleeve?

It goes to show that no matter how much experience that we get, we're still prone to pull stunts like this. I've done so many bone-headed moves that at times I'm too embarrassed to mention them.
To everyone else, Jamie has already beat himself up on another site, he was brave enough to show us this.

Okey-dokey, its a new morning and a fresh start. How do I feel? Still can't do nothing but smile a little. :o Ronnie calls it brave.... I call it not wanting to live in denial. :D :D :D

Words can't describe the feeling when it happened. Saw the strings in the carby & thought "humm, interesting. We'll pull them boogers out". Then nothing happens and the "Oh ####, this can't be for real" LOOOOL.

Loaded it all up and drove home feeling shocked. Told myself to go on and take a shower and forget about it, but couldn't do it. As soon as it was all in the shop, had to tear into it & thats the way it sits now after taking the pics.

Might just toss another engine in there & run tomorrow while trying to act like nothing happened (hell, don't have any GPS strings this time:D). Wait, maybe not. Stop while we're ahead. Might just go "watch" this time. :p

Btw, for those that can't see the pics' here's the thread with them uploaded to the site.

Ouch...sorry to hear about your trouble.
I was looking at your other post about the boat,

1; what size is that fuel thank ? seems small
2; who makes the rudder assembly, where did you get it and for how much $$ ?
3; as i am changing the felxshaft on my super G ( still no cable in the mail, UPS marked it "natural disaster...." they said : we don't know when it will be delivered, they don't even know where the package is) as the enigne is pulled from the boat, I decided to remove the stock plastic carb air intake , but after seeing your picture , that PLASTIC COVER is going back on the carb.

Got brave & went back to the shop yesterday:)

Damage isn't bad. Definitly a ring, maybe a cylinder and possibly a rod. Crank..? Either way, its going back to the Netherlands where it came from and let Jerome have a look at it. The 27 SIKK is heading his way too for a special surprise for the Super G'

Rudder is Speed Master 60/90 rudder assembly. Its roughly $50 for the set. I like the SM gear because you can buy several length arms and the individual peices are not that hard to find. Ie, blade... $22, extension arm $20 etc. I bought mine new from an individual & got a better deal.

Fuel tank is small?

Lets consider something: Balance & run time

When you fill the 24 oz tank of the G' up, it runs forever. And do people actually fill the tank up and run for 30-40 minutes without shutting down? If so, folks are easier to entertain than me. 10 minutes of running & I'm back in adjusting something. So while its back in, add a splash of gas to it too. Its not a race boat either so we don't worry about the extra weight. In the last 3+ years of owning 1 (& had 2 at one time) they probably got filled totally full less than 5 times while still in my learning stages with them.

My case, this tank is 15 oz. First run didn't go good so it was hard to get a good assessment. It will provide good run times for sport boating and will most likely not get more than half that if I decide to race my buddies. The smaller tank will keep the slosh / splash effect down to a minimum too. Not that its a huge conscern.

Yesterday, I dropped a new engine in. Though a stock 260, I did put the same mod 257 carb back on after cleaning out all the trash. No carb cover. Dang, now that means I've got to break in a another stinkin engine. I'm tired of this mess. :D

thanks for the info on the rudder,
I agree on the run times and as how much fuel needed before bringing it back for thinkerind/adjusting. I see your point.
well..... call me lazy bones, but I don't even bring a gastank with me when I go out to play with the super G, filled it with gas a week ago and it still has some in it.
it's just the boat and the transmitter and a water jug that comes with me, normally have a screwdriver and a small adjustable wrench somewhere in the bottom of the center console(truck) in case I need it.
just a hobby boater.

PS: are you in Germany right now ? how much is the gas per gallon overthere?

Gas $'s. Can't say as I haven't left the house today & didn't notice. Will be able to tell you tomorrow though.

Speaking of gas... Man, I was getting it ready to head out today, put the tank with the epoxied lid in, filled it up and noticed a leak :o Looked around & its coming from the stinkin' lid~! I'm torqued because the heart was set on running this thing. Will probably just go over the whole lid this time and make good & sure she don't leak. Don't have much time left to jerk around with it.

I'd love to be in Germany - take a tour of the Wolfsburg plant (VW) & get some souvenirs!

Taking tours... Had always wanted to see the Jack Daniels distillery in Tenn. Got there thinking it was going to be an "enlightened" experience. NOT. Its a dry county. They can make the stuff, but not sell or give samples out. :o

Really? That's funny! I need to expand my ever-growing VW collection. I have over 4000 diecast, toy, RC, model, etc VW's in boxes. I need to get those harder to find items straight from Germany. Yes, a true bugfanatic.

Yeap ....there is plenty of that (dry cunty) in that region, TN KY, Kentucky has some awsome offroad riding places (jeeps , ATV dirt bikes ) but no booze to get the crowd going at night, so its bring your own.
sorry to sway away form the topic , just wanted to reinforce DD's statement.

so....how much is the gasoline over there?
