Here we go!!! The first time this has been done on the boards!!

Please read this carefully and in its entirety!!

The Best Paint competition will be open for entries for the month of September and will close at Midnight (EST) on Friday, 30 September 2005.

Restrictions: None.

The best paint competition is an opportunity for people to express their unbounded imaginations on an R/C car body. Realism is not required. Let your imagination loose on a piece of plastic to create a work of art.

Each of the following areas will be judged with a maximum of 10 points. After the points are tallied, the highest score wins.

1) Design: How well does the design fit/flow on the body? Is it visually appealing? How are the color choices? Originality does not count, but naturally something that every painter has done will not score as high as something unique and new.

2) Execution: Regardless of how complex or difficult it is, how well is it executed? Are there paint bleeds? Are the lines straight (or correctly curved)? Are their obvious mistakes? Fingerprints in the paint? How well executed are the fades and other basic painting techniques? etc.

3) Difficulty: How hard was this body to paint? Is it one color? Is the entire thing 5mm checkers with 4 different colors in each square? Are the mask lines through difficult areas of the body (i.e., wing mounts or stadium truck beds)? It may be 2 colors, but is one marbled? Is one color a candy that requires a special backing technique? This is where experience as a painter helps the most.

The photo and background will not be judged but a clean, well-lit photo that clearly shows the body is needed. Too often, muddy or poorly lit pictures limit the cars chances of winning. Please limit your entries to 3 photos per car. Keep in mind that a better picture will attract more attention for the People Choice.

RULES for Best Paint competitions:

1) Any body may be submitted to the competition (Truck, buggy, touring car, etc).
2) Any body submitted may NOT appear in another competition.
3) Photo editing the pictures (other than cropping and adjusting brightness/contrast) is highly looked down upon and may result in disqualification.
4) Anyone may enter a body (professional painters and Modelers are welcome!)
5) Insulting entries or painters in any way will not be tolerated.
6) Restrictions: none.
7) 3 entries per person.
8) Cars must be painted within the last 6 months.
9) Imagination is key

Each submission must include the following:
Body and chassis manufacturer and size.
Paint used.
Masks used (hand or precut)
Class entered

Failure to follow the rules or failure to submit the required information will result in a disqualification.

Classes of entry
Pro - If you paint or have painted for money, you must enter into the Pro class. If you have won 2 contests in the amateur category, you are automatically moved up to the pro class. If you’ve been painting for years (not for money) and people look at your work and say, “how’d you do that” or "holy crap, that’s awesome! Do one for me”, then you belong in this category. This shouldn't be a guessing game.

Amateur – This class is designed for beginning to intermediate painters. If you have been painting RC bodies for several years and people ask you “how’d you do that” or “holy crap, that’s awesome! Do one for me”, then you don’t belong in this class. 90% of rattle can users qualify for this category. If you are confused, the masses will speak out and place you accordingly. If you enter this class and it’s discovered you have painted for money, your entry will be disqualified. Be honest with yourself and to your fellow painters.

This month, Spamcake will judge the Pro class and Contender will judge the amateur.

Rules for the Judge - You will have to judge within 5 days of the end of the contest. If you are unable to do so, please contact Piggy89373 via PM within 24 hours of the end of the contest.

Viewers of this competition are encouraged to keep their comments to a minimum. Negative, derogatory, or inflammatory comments will not be tolerated. If the aforementioned comments are made by a contestant, their entry will be disqualified. Additionally, they will not be permited to enter the contests for a period not to exceed three months.

Next months Best Paint Competition will be restricted to Halloween themed bodies only.

Let's show off your talents and above all, have fun. This competition will determine if we have enough participation to do this again. Let the competition begin!!

Well, this is a Pro Line Crowd Pleazer for an electric Rustler, and I mounted it on an Evader ST with custom mounts. I used Faskolor Fasorange and Faspearl Blue, and backed it with Charcoal. I used a slightly modified Parma paint mask, can't remember the name. I would like to be in the amatuer class, as this is my first body. I used a Bager Anthem 155 airbrush. Thanks for looking.

I will at this point (before there are any Pro entries) offer up my standard Fair Warning to all the Pro entrants.

Fair warning #1) Photography counts. More accurately, Bad Photography will count against you. Things like a cluttered setting, bad angle, bad focus, the use of a flash, are all going to drag your score down like a lead sinker. The same goes for pics that are too small to see. You don't have to submit studio-grade pictures, but it doesn't take much effort to create good clear images of your work. Don't insult your own work and your audience with lousy photographs.

Fair warning #2) When it comes to critique, I won't be sugar-coating or pulling any punches. I won't be intentionally nasty of course, but I'm not going to spend any time or effort agonizing over how anyone might be offended by a particular phrasing. I'm just gonna let fly, and let the crushed egos fall where they may.

Let the painting commence!

These are all lookin good.
For the "manager" of the competition, 2 questions.
1)Does the body have to be for a car? I haven't painted any bodies yet, but I've seen some touring car bodies come out great and I think I'd like to paint one of them for practice. But all I have isa nitro rush so obviously not so fitting lol.
2)...noooo forgot the second question when I typed the first  I'll edit when I remember it lol.

2 Contiuned, rememberd while typing that lol. Whens the dead line? Hope I didn't mis read it.

MT2 owns you
09-04-2005, 09:09 PM
the dead line is Midnight (EST) on Friday, 30 September 2005. and yea, im pretty (99%) sure that you can enter truck bodies. i hope so because if i can get the money, im gonna try to do a body to enter :) i dont think theres any limitations

Thanks for the complements, Fester. I wish I could get a better picture, but there's too much contrast between the colors and it never comes out right. Looks much flatter in the photos than in person.

HEY PIGGY!!!!!!!!! Aren't you glad that you split up the entries into "levels"? I wonder whose brilliant idea that was? Psst..., if I enter my clapped out mini cooper, can I resubmit it should we ever get a "beater" concours competition? How about the "Country Gentleman" theme for Halloween? Perhaps even a "Weenie" for Halloweenie? :D I think everyone will have a great deal of fun just trying to build them. I know that I've been laughling at my own "beater" as I work on it!!! :D :D :D

hey gerok, thats one SWEET haichi roku! On another note...hey guys, I finally had a chance to try out the ABS "tires" and drift for the first time. WOW, i can see why everyones drifting now. its so much fun... I didn't even do a drift setup on the car, I just changed the tires and went at it. The battery lasts so much longer now. LOL. I had a crowd of kids from the neighborhood that were playing football come over and sit and just watch me drift around the driveway/street. Wish I had a camera and towels cuz they were drooling. oh yeah...and the body looks just like geroks, but on a mazda 6.

I touched up that first pic for you a little(ok maybe alot). Help bring out the colors, and detail. I helped out with the autowhite balancing, and exposure you camera tossed into the photo. Also Saturated it a hair to draw the colors out more.

The blue has a nice marbled look that matches the metalic blue of the engine head perfectly, unfortunately it doesn't come out at all in these pics (done using the blowing paint drops around & backing with similar colour technique), and neither did the fluro orange in the middle of the first pic.

I used the candy apple red to spray the lines of the bed (corners/angles) and around the designs then sprayed the fasred. The candy apple red gives it a nice suttle shade. Unfortunately, it is suttle enough that it didn't show up well in the pics. Looks good in person.

Hey desfjr1300, Aluma pegged it.

It's practice, there truly are some "pros" around this site ( for sure not me ) and when they offer up constructive critique its worth trying to do things the way they explain. At least once ;)

Big problem is, they can't critique or offer up any help if they never see any of your work. Look back on my earlier bodies, this spring. Wasn't looking too good

Fester, I was intimidated at first when I started to open them up and look at them. The window masks are tiny etc. but when I got to the point of using the liquid mask things looking up, takes alot less materials.
Just think when I start working on my 1/10 st bodys it'll be like seeing a football game @ A Super Dome vrs High School field. Lots o room

desfjr1300

I'm sure you guys are right-I most definitely need more practice! Would you happen to know of a site that might cover the "techniques" ? I'm afraid I'll need a little more than a "painting tips" type site, but something along the lines of a "complete step by step illustrated guide for incompetent boobs who can't even draw a straight line".
Stormer's giving away mini t bodies right now for $1.99, and at that price I can certainly afford to mangle a few with my artistic genius!

just remember when painting those little ones: Always keep a hair dryer handy. Because they are soo small it is very easy to spray too much paint and end up with a little puddle. The hair dryer will dry it in place before it ruins any surrounding colors.

W.E.D. Jim, I thought that was you from RCTech. Good to see you on here, your work is fantastic and an inspiration. You've helped countless folks on the other site, and I see you've continued the trend here. Thanks Jim, Welcome to Boards.

Resp, at first, I was a bit reluctant because not too many people paint micro bodies so I wasn't sure about participation. But, after the bulk sale not long ago and the fact I have an 18T unpainted 18T body waiting, I might have to take you up on it. However, it's been a while since I've competed against you...should be a good match up. On a different note, I've been noticing some similarities with most of the bodies you've been painting...both on theme and time required. It's been said before, so I'll say it again anyway as purely constructive criticism....spend more time painting the body instead of rushing it. You're skills have improved dramatically over the past year but you've been rushing yourself and it seems your work isn't what it could be because of it. Take your time, focus more effort into it and show us what you're really capable of without time constraint...not what you can do in 45 minutes.

Folks,

It's that time you all have been waiting for, THE RESULTS of this months competition. I'm going to first say that is was very tough process and everyone did a tremendous job with their paint jobs. There are no losers in this contest, just those that need some work on their craft. I just want to explain what I did in my process. First, I used a 10 point max for each catagory. A max of 10 was awarded for design, execution, and difficulty, meaning the most that any one person could get is 10 pts. Second, I know that some people entered more than one bodies. What I did in this case was took what I thought was your better entry, and judged that body. I placed the top ten in order, and those that did not place in the top ten received honorable mention. Now this system I used will probably differ from Spammy, but it's my first crack at judging and I did the best that I could, so I hope I don't offend anyone and again, there are no losers, you all did a great job. So with that being said, let me list the guys that didn't quite make the top ten, but still put in some great work nonetheless.

C0NTENDER

Honors go to:

EvanderSTKid – Crowd Pleazer has a nice paint job on it with very well cut out flames. The only problem with flames in a contest like this is that it’s hard to stand out. Good work

FESTER2004 - 50's chevy pick up with a nice paint job showing off a decent fade. I would say watch your color choices and as time goes on, your fades will improve

Hobson - HPI Dodge Charger with a great color choice. I really like it, but you well into the situation where it’s hard to make flames stand out. Good job

Scomp87 - with his unknown 1/8th buggy with a great scheme, but the execution brought you down some. Still a good looking paint job.

Gerok – with his ABC Toyota Levin. This was a nicely done car. Normally pictures don’t really play a part in the judging, but this is one example that caused some problems with my review of this car. I didn’t have the angles that I wanted or any shots of the entire car to do a thou rough inspection of the body. These points cost dearly in my judging. It’s a very nice looking body from what I can tell, I just didn’t get an overall picture of what the car looked like.

Jcnalley – with his Proline F-650. Another good looking body that fell into the flame game. Nice color choice but it’s very hard to get noticed with flames without being extra creative.

Urbangansta101 – with his HPI Nissan Skyline GTR R34. Clean paint job, more of a concours car, just couldn’t squeeze you in with some of the details that the other like cars had with their paint jobs. Good work.

Savagepicco26 – with his HPI Corvette. Nice design, just need to work on your color choices and some more execution. Still a nice body that I looked at several times.

Great job guys

3. For Third place, I chose Romuald31 with his Hong Nor Stratus 2. This is another great looking body. Good fade work and good example of masking. Romuald31 did a very good job with selecting his colors, which really stand out and grab your attention. Not because they are bright, but because the color combination he chose blends well together. 2. Second place proved to be the hardest decision in this competition. With two guys basically going head to head with like body styles, but different paint schemes. Both bodies look down right mean. Both utilizing some excellent choices in colors and layout. Both showing superb detail to masking. I can go one and one about both of these paint jobs. The one thing that really stood out about Brian Metz body is the color choice and how even the body looks. Just one amazing paint job for this class. Then you have Nutter who put in what looks like the same effort, and the same detail to the layout and execution. Also showing off his marble technique. Man, what a touch decision. In all it came down to the following:

CongraTs to Farwar, the winner of this class Farwar

This is the one of the best bodies that I have seen in a while. The design is impeccable and the color choice couldn’t be any better. I really like how the paint scheme flows from the layered hood effects to how the orange fades into the yellow. This is a well designed paint job with very good execution. This body almost received a perfect 10 across the board. The only .5 deduction was caused by the fading of the orange in the rear. Not as even as the side of the truck bed so I had to take points away for that. Even though I am not judging on the pictures taken, that first shot is just nasty. Makes me want to say, “can you paint one for me”. With that being said, I would like to announce Farwar with his entry of “Sav Nasty” the winner of the Amateur class. (I do however have some bad news for Farwar, and that is I have to bump you up to the pros for any future contest) With skills like this, there is no way you should be in the Amateur class any longer. Great job and keep up the good work!!!

Greetings all! Sorry this is so far behind Contender's post, I'm pulling some
overtime at work and it was a matter of juggling a bit to get some time to
get this all posted.
So, heeeere we go! I quote from post #10:

I will at this point (before there are any Pro entries)
offer up my standard Fair Warning to all the Pro entrants.

Fair warning #1) Photography counts. More accurately, Bad Photography
will count against you. Things like a cluttered setting, bad angle, bad
focus, the use of a flash, are all going to drag your score down like a
lead sinker. The same goes for pics that are too small to see. You don't
have to submit studio-grade pictures, but it doesn't take much effort to
create good clear images of your work. Don't insult your own work and
your audience with lousy photographs.

Fair warning #2) When it comes to critique, I won't be sugar-coating or
pulling any punches. I won't be intentionally nasty of course, but I'm
not going to spend any time or effort agonizing over how anyone might be
offended by a particular phrasing. I'm just gonna let fly, and let the
crushed egos fall where they may.

You can't say I didn't warn you!

Please find attached an assembled picture of postage-stamp thumbnails,
as a visual reminder of each entry's general appearance.

I've done the standard 30-point grade for each entry, along with a short
critique - in most cases I've pointed out the element or elements that
stuck out the most to pull the score down in a given category from a top
score of 10. In some cases I've even mentioned the positive. I'm not a
total meanie. Just mostly.

Something else I've added to this competition's score calculation is the
Photo Factor. As mentioned in Fair Warning #1, photography counts. This
isn't anything new for any competition that I've judged; the significant
difference here is that I'm putting it, as part of the process, on the
front side of the curtain. Each entry gets a score between 0.00 and
1.00. A score of 1.00 is pretty broad, anywhere from 'Good' to
'Spectacular'. Anything below that has a flaw significant enough to
warrant a score reduction. The 3-part score total is then multiplied by
the Photo Factor to get the final result. This may be controversial, but
given that it takes a certain effort to take a picture to begin with,
and so little more effort to make that picture not be bad, I felt that
it was about time it was considered. There are far too many repeat
offenders when it comes to lousy pictures.
They certainly don't have to be studio grade, but if you can hardly see
the subject, then what's the point of posting it to begin with?

Anyway... on with the results:

Off-list:
Z-Tuner, as the pictures were not present.
misho's 3rd entry. There were no pics for the original 3rd, and to be
honest I totally flaked on spotting your fourth until now. Sorry about that.
Just so you know, it would have placed extremely close to
your blue/pink sedan. It's a bit less noisy with the number of colours, but
some of the colour application is unsure and splotchy.

21st
RespirologyRC - GT car with up-force wing.
Design 6 -Flame elements look very out of place, and are badly
designed - lines, curves, and weights are repeatedly out of sync.
Execution 3.75 -Flame fades are misdirected. Carbon fibre execution is
heavy and clumsy.
Difficulty 5
Photo Factor 0.4 - Flash and related glare, and yet the body is still in
darkness. Dark and distracting background.
5.9

20th
RespirologyRC - Truck with jack-in-the-box mural on bed cover.
Design 9 -Well arranged, with the pattern (although too much of it)
on the sides and mural on the bed cover.
Execution 3.5 -Too much stuff on the sides, and the freehand work is
extremely bulky. The line quality in the mural is atrocious. Slow down;
some practice with your bristle brush wouldn't hurt.
Difficulty 8
Photo Factor 0.3 - Flash, dark to the point of obscurity, and an
extremely cluttered background.
6.15

19th
RespirologyRC - Chrome truck with flames.
Design 7 -The flames still have many of the same issues as the GT
entry, and they are a bit repetitive.
Execution 5 -The flame fades are bulky, and the topside dropshadow is
oddly placed.
Difficulty 4.5
Photo Factor 0.5 - Again with the superfluous background... if you had
cut away the excess, it would've resulted in a much better image of the
work itself. Also the flash comes into play, although it's not as
problematic as in the other entries.
8.25

18th
misho - Black/White/Yellow sedan.
Design 7.5 - Good colour combination, and the pattern fits together
well. The window trim is a bit overpowering though.
Execution 9 - The freehanded orange is a bit heavyhanded.
Difficulty 6
Photo Factor 0.5 - Flash, small size, edges cut off.
11.25

17th
Aluma - Blue truck with Ford logo and white linear pointed scallop.
Design 8 -A very nice, clean design incorporating the logo and
adding a touch of 'speed'. The lettering may or may not be accurate or
sloppy, but it's hard to tell with no straight-on closeups.
Execution 7.8 -Slight waver in the long white stretch. Lettering..?
Uncertain.
Difficulty 5
Photo Factor 0.6 - Flash, distracting background and desk, small size.
12.48

16th
misho - Blue/Pink/White/Silver/Red/Black sedan.
Design 7 -Several angles are awkward together, especially on the
sides. Maybe one too many colours, tough to call.
Execution 6 -The freehanded black is heavier than it should be, and
the pink is severely overblown. Lots of unsure cut lines - look at grill
and headlight.
Difficulty 6
Photo Factor 0.8 - Flash, extreme image contrast.
15.2

15th
Mel*E*Mel - Mounted truck, silver chequerboard with flames.
Design 8 -A staple in r/c racing. The flames' heads are a bit
repetitive though.
Execution 7.5 -There are a couple unsure cut lines, and the
dropshadows are a bit bulkier than they ought to be.
Difficulty 6.5
Photo Factor .79 - Better light than the other truck entry, but small
size and not the optimal angles. There's that pesky background again.
17.38

14th
Mel*E*Mel - Truck shell, dark blue with chevrons and flames.
Design 8.5 -Well-designed combination, but the window trim should've
matched the line edging the chequerboard rather than the brighter
fluorescent orange.
Execution 9 -There are more than a few wavers in what are supposed to
be smooth and/or straight lines - check the window trim and the red stripe.
Difficulty 8
Photo Factor .7 - Flash, messy desk, and 2 of 3 photos are out of focus.
17.85

13th
Mel*E*Mel - 1/8th buggy, dark blue with chevrons and flames.
Design 9 -Same as the truck, but the chevrons just sit that much
better on the buggy shell.
Execution 8.5 - The window trim is a bit worse off on this iteration.
Difficulty 8
Photo Factor 0.75 - Great setup, but far too much glare involved. The
background needs to be lit too, not just the subject. Again, check your
focus.
19.125

12th
WheelNut - White/Blue/Red 1/8th buggy.
Design 7 -Fairly simple, but perfectly viable for a 1/8 buggy.
Execution 8 -The dropshadows are alternately bulky, uncertain,
misplaced for the body's contour, or just not present. Practice your
freehand painting.
Difficulty 5
Photo Factor 0.98 - Good angle and light but a bit too far away and/or
out of focus.
19.6

11th
Aluma - Tribalist/Carbon Sedan
Design 9.9 -Really quite good, from what I can see. The transition
from hood to roof though is just a little bit questionable. If it were
me I'd have isolated them, rather than trying to bridge the windshield
like that.
Execution 9 -The carbon fibre is in a square grid format, not the
usual offset woven pattern. It's also lacking in subtlety. Otherwise a very
good execution; from what I can tell.
Difficulty 9.2
Photo Factor 0.75 - Small size, and except for the outdoor shot (which
appears to be out of focus) the lighting is awful and could use better
angles
21.075

10th
JDAWG53 - Red truck with yellow pattern.
Design 9.2 -Cool design; line weights feel right, symmetry holds
together well. It's a bit tight on the roof though, and I would have
liked to see painted-in window trim. It looks incomplete without...I
think...it's tough to tell.
Execution 9 -There seems to be a couple wavy lines and a ragged edge.
Difficulty 9.5
Photo Factor 0.82 - Very well arranged and lit, but far too small. You
yourself said that the pictures don't do it justice - well, take some
that do. You've put a lot of time and effort into your work, why not
take those few extra minutes to show it off properly.
22.714

9th
rcajsilva - 1/8 onroad, fluorescent pink/green and white.
Design 8 -Extremely bright design for outdoor, especially befitting a
1/8-scale onroad car.
Execution 9 -Clean, with sharp lines.
Difficulty 6.5
Photo Factor 0.98 - In this photo, again one side is in shadow, and
darker this time than the other entry. If you had turned this car about
90 degrees clockwise before taking the picture, it would've gotten a
score of 1.
23.03

8th
JDAWG53 - 1/8 buggy with grid and stars.
Design 9.7 -A very nice combination of grid, scallops, and line
weight. Could've stood to use another 1/2" of grid at the front of the
roof though.
Execution 9 -A couple ragged edges, and some slight line weight issues
in the grid.
Difficulty 9.5
Photo Factor 0.82 - Very well arranged and lit, but far too small.
23.124

7th
winning edge designs - Operation Iraq sedan.
Design 7.5 -There's no real waviness where you've obviously intended
it to be. The logo would be better-placed about 1/2" closer to the
windshield. The stars are a bit too stiffly arranged to be fitting on a
flowing fabric.
Execution 7 -The shading on the flag/ribbon is too linear. The
dropshadow around the logo and ribbon isn't so much a shadow as it is a
line - check the separation under the logo, and above the right-side
blue field. Weathering on the window trim is also too sharp and linear.
Difficulty 9
Photo Factor .099 -Clean display area for the photo. A bit more cropped
than necessary. Could've used one more angle, and perhaps a closeup of
the logo you put so much time into.
23.265

6th
rcajsilva - Fluorescent orange/yellow with black chequerboard sedan.
Design 8.9 -A nice bright design for outdoor. The chequerboard flows
nicely for the most part, and leaves room for the lettering.
Execution 7.75 - There are several ragged lines all through the
chequerboard, and a few awkward lines and curves. Nicely done fade though.
Difficulty 7.5
Photo Factor 0.99 - You've photographed the shadow side - not only does
it darken that side, but we're getting chassis shadows projecting onto
it as well. Everything else though, angle, light, focus, is very well done.
23.9085

5th
winning edge designs - Blue truck with pinstriped overlapping flames.
Design 9 -Well-proportioned and well-placed flames, in an attractive
colour combination.
Execution 7.5 -The drop-shadows are nice and light in a couple spots,
but otherwise are heavy and end in rounded rather than pointed tips.
Looking carefully at the pinstriping, the shadowing there is
inconsistent and often doesn't match up with the shadowing wthin the
flames' field.
Difficulty 8
Photo Factor 1.00 -Clean, good light, fair angle.
24.5

4th
Blacktiger - White/Blue/Orange sedan.
Design 9.5 -Very racy, with a bright contrasting colour combination.
Execution 8 -The freehand work, while straight and smooth, is quite
bulky, and perhaps a bit too evenly weighted along its lengths. It looks
as though it needs to thin out toward the back of the car.
Difficulty 7.2
Photo Factor 1 - Well lit, nice clean photo area, but if you were to
do it again, you could smooth out the bedsheet, and crop the photos in
closer; you're showing a lot of (wrinkled) white space there.
24.7

3rd
Seb - Flames, rips on monster truck shell.
Design 9.2 -Some of the interaction between flame licks is a bit
awkward and unbalanced.
Execution 8.2 -Too much black involved between the orange field and
the white rips. Would've especially liked to have seen the white without
any black fogging on it.
Difficulty 8.5
Photo Factor 1.00 - A bit of shadow and glare, but not enough to
warrant a flawed score.
25.9

2nd
McKB - Ford Monster Truck, with chevrons and marbled panels.
Design 9 -A nice sharp design, well balanced.
Execution 8.5 -There are a few unsure cut lines, and the orange
element to the jagged edge is quite bulky. Practice your freehand painting.
Difficulty 8.75
Photo Factor 0.99 - Excellent effort with the rock background, but that
glare is a bit overwhelming and an unfortunate flaw with an otherwise
good picture. Neither the angle nor the background in the first shot are
helpful in any way.
25.9875

1st
integra d12 - Dragster with rat-face logo.
Design 10 -Now that is a dragster. Speed just waiting to be uncorked.
Execution 9.7 -The freehand work is a bit bulky in spots.
Difficulty 9.5
Photo Factor 0.98 - Very well arranged and lit, with the exception of
the one posted closeup. Unfortunately the photos are pretty small. For
the file size involved, you could certainly have posted something larger.
28.616

And there you have it. Congratulations all on an extremely
well-populated contest, and all best to integra D12 - he'll be judging
the Pro section of next month I believe; a tough job at the best of times.

Great job and a hearty congrats to Farwar and Integra d12!! If you're up for it, you'll judge Octobers Contest (Farwar the amateur and Integra the pro group).

Congrats to all who entered, as you can see from the scores, it was a close and touch competition! Thank you all for putting your hard work and effort into this and making this first run at a new format fruitful.

Some very nice bods I must say. Every one a winner I think. This is the first time I've followed this contest and I must say it will be something I'll be doing from now on. Integra way to go man I can't believe my funny car is a winner before it even hits the track.

Great judging Spam! I agree with all the points you made about my body, so it must have been good. Hmmmm, for October now I think I'm going to have to do something really good for once! Mabye I can crack the top 5. I sure do wish I could afford a Iwata revolution though, this whole Paasche VL thing just isnt working out that great for me, so hard to get the consistency I need out of it.

Sorry Fester, I wish I had the resources to do so, but I just didn't this time around, plus this was my first time judging any event, I'm use to just having my stuff judged :). Spam did an excellent job with judging and his format may
modeled by others in the future.

Wow, awesome judging guys. And Congrats to everyone. I am shocked I placed that high with that being my first time doing that style of a paint job. And yes I know I need a better way of taking the pics. Just all I have right now. I think I will pick up some white poster board and see if that helps. Thank You!

man this bites...I coulda had 2nd! :P and thats cuz I even took half my digicamera's memory card trying to get a good pic in those light conditions. Oh well, maybe next time. :D

oh yeah, and the comment about subtlety on the carbon, well, you really cant even see it unless you're in the sunlight, thats why I took pics outside. with dark tint, then gold, then black its pretty subtle...but maybe you meant I used too much carbon...? I do know what you meant by spanning the windshield though...I just didnt want to cut into the window frame incase I wanted to use a banner there. Nothing like honest comments to bring out the better quality next time.

Excellent job with the judging! Usually an unenviable task that is taken too heavily by the competitors, :).

I have to say I agree 100% with the winner.....would have been my pick as well. Alot of good work posted. Maybe i'll put in some of my concours level work next time, rather then my middle of the road "race" stage paint...haha..;).....Thanks, Jim, W.E.D.
