Get a 5800. the 5.5 and 6.5 will ;) be too mutch for a buggy in the dirt.

hi,
I asked Charlie at Novak a verysimilar question as to what Velocity motor is better for off-road....he told that the 6.5 is more suited as the 5.5 was a bit too much for dirt...
Hope this helps

If for some reason you find the 6.5 to be too slow, you could always upgrade to the 5.5 motor. Then you could sell the 6.5 motor on Ebay. Or, if you get lucky, Novak may allow you to do a motor/cash trade-in to get the 5.5.

Or downgrade to the ss5800 after buying the 6.5.

I have a Novak SS with the 5800 in my buggy. Unless you have a large track or ultimate grip I doubt you can put much more than that down. I own the Sphere and the neo in a t4 and it is way to sick for me to put it down on the track. The 6.5 and 5.5 will be more. So I would recommend the 6.5 for a buggy. You need a large 8th scale track for that or lower in turns. Odds are you will want a 5800 also. To much power in racing is worse than not enough at times.

People race with 13 and 14 turn brushed motors for their 2wd buggies all the time. In most cases, the ss5800 will suit your needs. However, if you do not want to have to deal with heat, get the gtb. You can always upgrade to a hotter motor later.

Get the 6.5, then if you find it's too much, buy a 5800 motor later. Or just get the GTB ESC and the 5800 motor.:D

I have a B4 with the SS5800 in it, my friend is the one posting about getting one with the GTB. He wants one better than mine and he got the 6.5. I guess we will see whos is the best setup.

Just bashing, the 6.5 will most likely outrun the 5800 even if it's on 7 cells on the street. In racing, the 5800 will probably have plenty of power, but not too much on the track and give it the advantage (assuming a smaller track and equal driving skill). Either way, they're both fun, and if you don't have a fan on the 5800, stick a 5v DC fan on there and that should help keep things in better shape under that little shell. :)

The 5800 hauls in my B4. I had it in a truck an it was pretty fast, but in the little buggy it'll fly.

Get the 5.5. I have the SS5800. It's alright. Good for bashing and racing. But for street bashing, it's just not enough. MORE HP is always more fun for bashing. My feeling is that you only have enough HP if it's too fast to handle with max throttle. Case in point, I can't fully mash my throttle on my T4 using 14.8 volts and a 3500 KV motor. The T4 will instantly spinout and do a pirouette on the rear tires and motor and flip upside down and blow out a tire. That's enough power. :) So, to drive it around my block (for bashing), I simply don't put the pedal to the metal.
