just wondering if anyone (charlieS, Bob) could tell me what the kit includes? (guessing new endbell and rotor) also how much of a performance gain could I expect? Tower has it listed as mid sept for $29 but no picture or description.

Ooooooooooooooooooh! Sounds like you may be right. I musta missed in when I was nosin' round tower's site. (notice how the 6.5 is now scheduled for october? ). Thanks for the heads up!

Yes, it's an Endbell and Rotor. I don't have exact numbers on performance increase. Sorry. That stuff is pretty hard to quote with any kind of accuracy. It's a stronger rotor, so you should expect improved torque, and the new endbell/rotor combo rids the SS of any noise.

Alright, sounds like a plan to me. :D

mmmm added torque just what my bike needs :)

Only $29!?! Somehow that doesn't seem like much money! :) Hmm, do I really NEED the extra torque though? My old rotor/endbell would be going to waste!
Would this upgrade stress out the Super Sport ESC though?

More torque == more amp draw. As long as you've got a fan on it there probably won't be a problem. I'd imagine Novak have tested it quite a bit with the SS esc.

If I remember correctly, Charlie said they did some testing and said that yeah, it did heat up a bit more than usual, but still held up decently. I'd probably have to change my fan and be more careful when I get this little upgrade kit since Florida is pretty warm atm. Need a new fan too....stupid 12 volt fan running off a 5 volt BEC....:D

I would think that more torque = less rpm. kt may be higher, and rpm lower. I dunno.

Actually more RPM with the newer rotor/bearing (in theory). More torque means it can reach the higher revs it can with no load (5800kv) instead of dropping back to around 4200kv under a load.

Hmm. You just confused me. I though that a stronger rotor would mean less RPM (like speedy said). I doubt the endbell makes a TON of differenced in free RPMs. But then again, under load the RPMs will probably be higher because it has the extra torque to reach those RPMs. Oh so confusing. Hell, just gimme the rotor and endbell, a new fan, and some IB 3600s and I'll be set....:D

Yeah, it will depend on the exact application. I can see most people simply noticing more torque. The ESC may get a bit warmer depending on the situation.

Have you driven a 5800 with the new rotor/endbell combo at all Charlie? If so, what were your impressions of it. I don't have enough moolah to get a GTB yet (don't worry, I WILL get one sooner or later....:D). I was thinking this is a cheaper way to get some more performance out of my SS5800, along with new batteries and a new fan. :D

Me, no I haven't myself. I saw it go, and Bob and Steve drove it here on our Track, but not at our local raceway. I think they just did the swap on one of our "basher" cars, so nothing to serious. More Grunt for sure.
