So, its been about three years since my last time in the RC realm, and im looking to get back in. Im looking to get a nitro monster truck, but the problem is that there are so many options nowadays. I remember how it used to be dominated by t-maxxes and e-maxxes, now its all changed for the better. So, what im asking is, Whats the best monster truck for me? Note that I will never race, im more of a basher, and enjoy just having fun in my backyard. Looking for somehting thats reliable and fun, but still kicks arse. Ive been checking out the Losi LST, but ive been hearing stuff about the HPI savage and associated Monster GT and the Revo. So whats the differences and what in your opinion would suit me the best? Also what about aftermarket parts for each truck? compatibility with parts like wheels and body shells and stuff. Thanks inadvance for the helpful replies everyone.

It has all the hop up already that you need for the Savage 25 RTR to be awsome!

The Savage 25 is .25, the Savage 4.6 is .28 with all the aftermarket hopups like pipe,Driveshaft, axle, shocks, steering set up, gearing. trust me I bought the Savage 25 and have more invested into this than the Savage K4.6 was initially! And I still have stock drivetrain. The 4.6 has way more power than the .25 too!

so basically the 4.6 is the mother of all savages? Also what about the other monsters i posted up earlier? any experience with those?

Just what other people post up here on the forum. LST is a pretty decent rig along with the MGT, But Savage K4.6SS is the shiznit!

The new MGT 4.60 SE has all the features you loved on the original MGT, and now Team Associated has added a few more!
At the heart of the new MGT beats the AE 4.60 engine which has increased displacement of 33%, making the MGT 4.60 SE deliver more horsepower and stump-pulling torque!
To make sure all of that extra power gets down to the ground, the MGT 4.60 SE’s 2-speed transmission now comes equipped with new tough steel gears and steel CVAs that are up to the job of handling the massive torque.
The current rugged extruded aluminum chassis, oil filled shocks and huge mounted all-terrain tires give the MGT 4.60 SE over 4 inches of ground clearance, letting you take that power over almost any obstacle.
The new MGT 4.60 SE comes with Team Associated’s XP-3 radio system that is factory installed for complete and total driving control. A full line of genuine Factory Team performance parts are available for the MGT 4.60 SE to let you trick out your truck to your specifications!

Thats a good bet. Even tho you said you'd "never ever" race we all know how long that lasts if there's mt race'n even remotly close.
The LST has a race worthy radio out of the box and is a fairly capable truck on the track. Still a good basher in its own right. The MGT and TNX would have been cheaper option in the "bash now, race later" line of trucks but would need new radio's. But thats just me, i dont even like to bash on AM.

What do you want your monster truck to do? What are your priorities? Speed, durability, handling, cost, and ease of maintenance.
LST-Fastest box stock. Most expensive. Handles good and race capable.
Has durability issues. Race or Bash.
TNX pro-One of the fastest box stock. Cheapest of the bunch with hop ups included. Handles good and race capable box stock. Very durable. Very easy to work on. Race or Bash.
Revo- One of the best handling. Also one of the fastest. Race capable with minor tuning of suspension. Very durable. Pretty easy to work on. Cost middle of the road. Motor is very finiky tuning wise(very small sweet spot). With a OS TM or TZ one of the fastest trucks on the track. Race or bash.
Savage- One of the most durable if not the most durable. Very hard to work on. Loves to jump. Needs alot of mods to be race ready. One of the best bashers.
MGT- Very easy to work on. Probably the most user friedly design. The slowest of this bunch with the .21 engine. The new .28 version should make it one of the fastest(Unkown at this point as the truck has not been released yet). Very durable. Also one of the cheapest. Very durable. Great basher and with minor mods can be raced(but it does need more power). Good compromise of a Basher/ racer truck.
I own 3 of the 5 above trucks and have friends with the other 2. The above is not just from here say. It's from experience. You may have fan boys of certian trucks saying I'm wrong but what I see is what I type.

The LST doesnt have durability issues, i have one and bash it hard every day, home made ramps back flips and all that. Great truck, bullet proof!!!!

im pretty sure he's talk'n about the supposably fixed motor issues. That was the big turn off for me on the LST. I end'd up gett'n a tnxpro and a XS3 radio =)

i have an mgt and lst. had a savage and a t-maxx. will never own either of them again. nothing but problems on both trucks. as for the mgt and lst, best 2 trucks i have owned. the mgt comes stock (for the .21) a little under powered, but the new mgt took care of that problem. i beat the snot out of my trucks, and yes they break, but these 2 take way more punishment than the other 2 i had. ;)
