well since i know hpi will be making more premounted 17mm wheels. im thinking about getting nubz. im going to be praticeing and then hopefully going to enter a race in about 2 or 3 weeks. so i was wondering should i go with what every one else has the proline 40 series bowties or go for the nubz. how strong are both wheels ?which one of the wheels handles better? which one of the wheels is lighter? im leaning toward nubz because they are premounted.

87230 4 17mm Hex Hub Conversion Set w/UV Joint (Savage) $90.00
HPI Racing is proud to offer this new 17mm Hex Hub Conversion Set with Universal Joints for the Savage series of Monster Trucks. 17mm hex hubs decrease the stress on the wheels, helping to prevent stripped wheels when using high horsepower engines. Universal joints deliver improved durability and more efficiency than the stock dogbones. They're machined from high strength steel, hard chromed for a shiny durable finish that is easy to clean and looks great, and fully rebuildable to add extra life when it comes time for maintenance. These universal joints are factory designed, factory manufactured and team tested for the best fit and durability on the market. To help keep these universals together in the toughest conditions, the joint pin has been made with a special flat spot so the set screw gets a better seat when tightened. Sold as a set of four and includes everything needed to assemble and install. Comes with everything needed to upgrade one truck, including four axles/nuts, a wrench, thread lock and grease

no. they just bolt onto the stock shaft that uses the 14mm hex. i just put a set of the proline's on my revo. i'm debating on what to do with my savage. you can get the Ofna Dominator rear axles and just replace the savage axles. keep the savage dogbones and they go right into the dominator axles. the dom's axles are made for 17mm hex's. the only problem with the HPI Nubz is that you have to race in the unlimited class with them because they're too small to run the production class. for that reason, i'll never buy a set cause there's no way a savage can hang with truggies!

Wouldn't 40 series be considered illegal then because I thought nubz and 40's were almost the same size.

no. nubz have a smaller diameter than the 40 series. that's what makes them illegal for RC Pro Series Production MT class. you can run the nubz in the unlimited class.

What is the RC Pro Series Production MT class? Our track just has Small block and Big block.

Well I just stripped the hex out on one of my Nubz. HPI won't replace. I'm going to try begging, but if that doesn't work...

http://www.rcproseries.com/rules/
sorry, it's actually "standard", not production. all the tracks here call it production though, even though they use the "standard" class rules. RC Pro Series is pretty much the rules system that most tracks use now. in standard, you can run a big block, or a small block. there's weight minimums though to compensate for the extra power of the big blocks. in standard, tires have to be 2.75" wide and the nubz are 2.677". so the width is too narrow, not the diameter as I said above.
