Ok here we go I have a Sav 25 Upgraded from ideas from the forum Thankyou now for the rubber. Not racing yet at all still just running around lots of different surfaces, standard tires ok for grass and full of road no good for speed side walls to soft,
Please let me know what your running and why, I would like a good general purpose tire set up rims also.
So far have thought of Big Joes on 23mm hex

for running on the pavement, nothing will beat road tires. just about all offroad tires are going to have some sidewall flex to them which will cause traction-rolls on pavement. 40 series tires and rims will reduce this some, but not all.

40 series big joes or dirt hawgs would prolly be best. The pro-line moab's in 40's shouldnt be bad either. If your gonna run 40 series racing tires anyway this isnt so bad. But if standard MT tires are better for your track dropp'n $100 for tires/wheels/hubs for general use seems silly if your pull'n off for race day.

Some non 40 series to look at might be the TRC rockzilla line. Pro-line really should make a dirt hawg in the standard maxx size.

Well, if you're going to run 40size tires, chances are you can't get away with the velocity rims (not that you'd really want them, just a warning incase you do) unless you run the 23mm adapters. The MGT has a tendancy to bend them real quick and the Savage isn't really any lighter (especially considering my MGT is almost 2lbs lighter than stock).
If you're looking for an all-around tire you should look into the Zombie Maxx. The sidewall is a bit smaller, but yet still big enough to help with shock absorbtion. That's one thing you have to keep in mind. The smaller the sidewall the less shock absorbtion there is. If your suspension isn't tuned properly it can make the truck a bit on the bouncy side. You'll notice that the pro drivers won't really use low-profile tires unless they have to (high bite tracks).

Thanks so far for the info it's not that i want real low profile tires but just a stronger side wall than the stock GT's just dont want that tire reducing it'self in width when I hit a high speed staight or a fast corner I will look at those Zombie's
Keep the info coming please and any links you want to add.

i still run the stock GT's, but i replaced the foams with Pro-Line Maxx Impact foams. they're so much better than the stock foams.

Exactly what needs to be done. There aren't any problems with the GT tires...it's the uber-crappy foam that HPI uses. It just falls apart and kills the performance of the tire.

when i pulled the stock foams out, i laughed at how soft they were. the pillow i use in bed is firmer than the HPI foams!
