hi you have probably seen my other threads about modifying a T-MAXX with a o.s. .18tm and proline 40 series wheels and tires. i have come to the realization that with a o.s .18 is 220 dollars and the commando bead-loc wheels with masher tires and the 23 mm adapter is like 220 as well that's 440 and a revo costs like 440-480 depending on were you get it. so here is the question should i buy a revo or modify my t-maxx i want both about the same but i have heard the revo is better then a t-maxx could ever be. i would like the revo but if people tell me the t-maxx would be better i will go with the t-maxx

if i get a revo it would be for mostly bashing and would get some proline normal mashers and wheels the t-maxx is also for bashing

you could also suggest any savage version that would be in the same price range thats rtr (no money for radio :( ) but i really like the revo or the lst but the lst cost a lot more then 440-480

A well built T-Maxx will run with anything, so if you like your Maxx and you've got some money to spend, upgrading it isn't a bad thing really. A stock Maxx is a bit brittle for bashing, especially compared to a Savage, but if you're a good, clean driver and you can land jumps correctly, they hold up well enough, especially with some good mods.

One engine you might look at instead of the TM is the CV-RX. It's only $100, but it'll still spank the 2.5 in every way. You'd have two options that I know of. A slide carb version with a long threaded crank, or a rotary carb version with a short shaft crank. You need a short shaft crank, and if you have the 2.5 Maxx, you're setup for a slide carb. Slide carbs are better...and it's free and easy to cut the crank (especially if you've got a Dremel with a cutoff wheel), so I'd suggest going that route. The reason I suggest this is cost. The TM is an incredible motor, but the CV-RX is 85% as good, and less than half as expensive. This means you can spend money on making the truck tougher. A better steering servo (the Hitec 645 is quite a popular choice, and at 40 dollars, it's hard to beat), stronger a-arms (RPM nylon, color of your choice), aluminum bulkheads (You get what you pay for. I don't hammer my truck so Integy works fine. If you plan on beating on it, spend the money on the Traxxas or Hardcore Racing bulks.), RPM shock towers and body mounts, RPM wear plates, a stiffer, lighter chassis (like the Traxxas or Integy), and, if you jump a lot, better shocks. The Big Bores are very, very nice, as are the Integy piggybacks. The Pro-Line Powerstrokes are just about the ultimate shock...but they're not cheap. Other than that...better looking wheels and grabby tires are always nice. Stock Savage tires grab quite well on a variety of surfaces, and they wear well. The same can be said of the Pro-Line Masher 2000's. For a Maxx, I'd stay away from the 40 Series. They're cool looking, but they're expensive, and with less sidewall to soak things up, your rims take quite a beating.

yeah... it's how you build your truck. You can build anything to beat almost anything, but you just need a good setup and be good in driving. If you had a stock truck and raced a souped up truck, you can beat the modified truck by your racing skills. But I personally love the Revo. The best selling truck in the market.

what i am trying to say is that my friend poured 2000 dollars into his t-maxx, he spent it on things like alloy chassis brakes radio you know all the basic stuff then he bought he revo and in its stock outta box form beet his 2000 dollar maxx oh yea and the max had a flash motor on it to (i will find out what i was for ya)

what i am trying to say is that you will be kicking your-self if you dont get the revo it is so far ahead of technoligy and also it is just a better and more reliable truck in every way such as the enclosed ball ends pivot ball covers bigger slider shfts and more heavy duty transmission also reverse works alot better, all in all the revo can handle more power yet still is just as agile and more durable than the maxx

i like my maxx even compared to my revo. Sure the revo is faster but my maxx can out handle it at the track. The maxx has a BB conversion and all the upgrades so that it can handle the BB ($2k + maxx). I think that the longer WB on the maxx (with the conversion), makes the difference.
If I had to choose between the 2 today, I prob. wouldn't get either. I would most likely go with an LST, MGT, or Sav., the later 2 especially if you are bashing.

thanks alot guys i think i'm either getting a revo or a savage. most likely go to go with the revo because of a article on traxxas.com about how to make it in to a nitro rock crawler. also i like the revo for the reverse stock, optidrive, and all the seals/rubber sealed ballbearings. I'm going to make a track to drive it on along with my maxx. the track will have a table top, double, and a cross over(not so sure yet about the cross over) were you jump over the people that are behind you.

In English please?

What part on the Savage is a bracket?

As for "savages suck," well...enjoy your Revo. I'd take a Savage over a Revo any day. Savages aren't that bad to work on. They come apart very quickly, which is a bonus, but you do have to take most of the truck apart to get to a lot of things, which sucks. That said, the Revo isn't any better. In fact, the only place I can see where the Revo has an advantage over the Savage in that department is hardware. The Revo's hex hardware is definately very nice, but other than that, it's just as difficult, if not more difficult to work on as the Savage.

Personally, I'll take my MGT, LST, and Mad Force over either of those two trucks. I'd also rather have a TNX than either of those too, and in fact I will in a few months.

the savge is so easy to work on lets just say you wanted to get to the transmission then all you do is take off one side plate and whollla one savage tranny and you dont have to remove all the junk that hangs off a revos tranny and also getting to the diffs are not that hard if you know how to do it ;) people who complain about nitro trucks or cars for that matter should have stuck to there tyco rc "toys" for in the real world of hobby grade rc you are required to work on your cars or trucks no matter what

i am sick of the wreanching factor stoping people from buying savages, they are just as easy to work on as any other truck.

this is getting about as bad as which is better ford or chevy.all of these trucks are good trucks and any one could beat the others if put in the right hands. if you've already got a maxx i would just modify it. I don't think you'll notice a big difference between a modified maxx or a revo. unless you're running against pro racers it can hold its own against any of the trucks mentioned above, but thats just my 2 cents.
