Lidz, painting in micro scale is definitely a lot harder. Very little room for error. I agree, it sucks. Although, painting a micro body with detail and afterwards doing a 1/10th is like doodling on a post-it note and moving to a billboard.

Agreed piggy....after all those 1/12ths I look forward to doing 1/8 buggies again ;)

What would you charge for something like that. I may be looking for someone to paing a GS Storm body for me in the future... just trying to get a ballpark for an awesome paint job.

Lidz, it definitely shows in that one. There a bit more detail and color there than usual. Another awesome looking paint job.

Sorry for digging up an old post, but I had to page back twice to get to something I posted last week

(If you have a question feel free to search before you start a thread ;) )

Anyway here is some stuff I have been working on seems like forever. JDAWG posted the daddy to these in the best paint comp, and as is par for the course, shortly thereafter I get an email wanting the same scheme (I hope TroyLee doesn't mind, lol.)

The LST Crowd Pleazer is a monster...it dwarfs all other bodies around!

Nice job bro. I like the way the stars go into the window. I wish the grid on my body was larger like yours. Man that was alot of work laying all that stripe tape and making sure it was all sealed down so there was no bleads. Troy Lee has given me inspiration more than once :D

Thanks J

yeah, troy does some awesome stuff. Must be nice to do "grown up" airbrush work. :D

I have also "referred" to his site once or twice before ;)

also, try airtrix for some mind blowing stuff!

Nice looking stuff! How'd the races at the Farm 2 go?

RespirologyRC
10-14-2005, 11:40 PM
i'd love to race at the farm, but don't live anywhere close. Either way I really like the colors on that yellow buggy body. It's funny I don't like painting 1/10 because I don't feel comfortable doing it. I feel like there should be something in every little bit of space but you have definitely shown here that a nice decent design goes a long way.

Sweet work

Pig they start in 2 weeks...I still have more to go :D

Resp, thanks for the ups...but, there is something in every little space

you misunderstood what I ment, but that's cool

Because I paint in such a small area, when I go to a larger body I find that I'm still painting the same way (small). In your designs you have stuff all over the place and it looks sweet. This is what I wanted to say

LEADFOOT
10-15-2005, 08:40 AM
oh okay, I gotcha.

Painting bigger bodies lets you use the same layouts just bigger = easier and looks better....especially when it comes to pinstripes. On a 1/8 body if you so a 1/4" even pinstripe it will look really nice and make whatever you're striping really pop. On a 1/18th, that same stripe will take up 1/2 the body so naturally you'll have to shrink it...which leads to exaggerating the undoubtably uneven stripe.

I had some pretty big probs with this one. I think Alclad reformatted their chrome. They added a faint odor to it to make it less obtrusive, but now it sticks even less than it did before AND it softens the Divley's up to the point of the mask lines "healing" back together....it really sucked.

thanks guys...

Here's another. The customer wanted chain links because we thought it was a first. Also, he wanted the Bermuda flag on it...

It almost fits the Halloween theme :o

Nice lid!! The links are quite unique and the first time I've seen them used. You'd have to argue with Integra for that one to convince them of the Halloween theme.
