Hey ^j!nx^ a lil OT but I thought you would appreticate it. On my way to pick up my sons today a storm started rolling in and thunder and lightning were on the horizon. So I stopped by my house and picked up the camera and tripod. Pick up the kids and stake out a stop to start shooting. Here's the kicker.

342 pictures taken in 20 mins.

No a shot of lightning! Lightning storms are rare in my area and every chance I get I try and shoot some but only got one picture a couple of years ago.

Sorry for being so OT.

dude, lightning is the one thing I have never tried to shoot. I am sure I could get somehting with a 45second shutter. Tobad storm season is almost over.

I have no way (that I know of) to adjust how long my shutter stays open.

Rapid fire baby!

BRB crazy clouds outside.

Lightning isnt hard provided you have the lightning, and a "bulb" setting on your camera. It really couldnt be any easier.

Oh while were posting sunsets, heres one of mine i like.

a tip to turn out good looking photos is to learn to shoot in full manual and store the images in RAW mode.

I can't recommend anything for RAW mode, because I never use it. Though its really amazing to what you can do after the picture is taken.

Some tips I can offer, AF Focus hardly works for on-road racing. I have a 20D with a 70-200 f/2.8L IS USM which is by no means a slow set-up, and most of the time AF doesn't work well enough on on-road. I ended up MF'ing on the spot where I wanted the pictures, not everything turns out, but I am starting to get better at it.
