Ok guys, im ready to try a new airbrush. Im currently using an Aztek metal brush. Its nice, but the nozzles seem to be high maintenance. What im looking for, is a brush that can spray nice thin lines for nice fades and detail. As well as spray larger areas for main colors on my bodies. I prefer metal brushes, and one with different needle options. Im thinking of trying an Iwata, but really wouldnt know which one to try. Does anybody have any reccomendations, or advice on this? Any info is appreciated.

Here are some pics of the work i've done in the past. I just want to keep moving forward, and i feel i need another nice airbrush or two.

My first real paint job on my old LST.

Cool, thanks for the reply. Do you have any pics of work you've done with that brush? Possibly showing a thinner spray?

I have an Iwata Revolution CR and I love it. It's the budget version of the more professional airbrushes. The Iwata HP-C is supposed to be a very good gun as well. If you want really fine there is the micron also.

I love my Iwata HP-C.

That's what I'm waiting for! It is supposed to spray heavier paints (acrylic) better. Not sure if thats true yet or not.

But its gotta be better than my aztek...

I use the HP-C and highly recommend it. I have no problems spraying acrylics (heavy metallics being the exception) and lacquers are a breeze. It's a great brush and worth the expense. Considering the work you've done, picking up an Iwata will open new doors to you.

My aztek is out of commission. The stupid tip was being cleaned and as I pulled the little spring out it shot across the room somewhere.... $10 for a new one... If I keep buying new ones I could have spent all my money on a nice brush by now! Live and learn...

The HP-C is definately well suited for acrylics. I painted my helmet in some acrylic I found at the art store. Sadly, I wish I used it more often..

Thanks for all the compliments, and advice guys. It looks like i'll be ordering some new nozzles for my Aztek, and some Iwata brushes real soon. Heres a body i finished late last night. I'll have to match up a Revo body now.

Not meaning to hijack this thread, but I have a very similar question.

What airbrush do ya'll suggest for a beginner? I've a good amount of experence (from the late 80's) painting lexan bodies with rattle cans. I really like the effects folks are getting with airbrushes, and I'll like to give that a go.
