Hi everyone... I'm new here but would really like some of your insight! My project isn't all airplane, but it is powered like one so I'm posting here! I am building an AIRCAR from an old radio control car chassis (basically a car powered by an airplane prop that pushes from the rear- much like an airboat) and want some feedback: Is it possible to run an electric airplane motor with car electronics? (Tekin Rebel ESC, Traxxas radio/ reciever) The reason I ask is because it wont be geared (the prop will be directly on the motor shaft) and I wouldn't know how to get a car motor to spin at the right speed/ torque etc. I would assume the airplane motor is designed for that if run at the right voltage. (?) The other problem would be that I wouldn't know how to mount a car motor in the Airboat-like position (the airplane motor would be easy because they make rear mounts for certain planes such as the Stryker) I have no idea if I can just solder leads to the airplane motor and plug it in to my esc and 6-cell (7.2 volt) 2400mah NiCad batteries. Also, are fast airplane motors brushless? Finally and most relevant to this forum, what are the fastest, most powerful airplane motors and what voltage, amperage, type of esc are required to run them?
ANY IDEAS AND SUGGESTIONS WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!
