Proline velocity 6 40 series use the normal 14mm hex but if you wish you can covert them to the 23mm hex by buying the 23mm hex conversion kit.
I use these on my savage and i run them on the standard hex;s and they are alright to nice wheels the only thing you may have to watch for is sometimes that have tendencies to crack on the inside of the rims so just check them every so often

how would they work if they are the 40 series and they are made to go with the 40 series tires which are for the 23mm adapters. how would they fit on a 14mm

Drhhhhhhhhhhh what a dick i am i do run on velocity wheels but they are not the 40 series so thats why i am running on standard 14mm hexes.
So please accept my apologies and error on this subject

This is just plain wrong.
To avoid all this confusion, just go to pro-line's website.

the velocities come in standard, 40 series, 23mm standard and 23mm 40 series. the velocity 6 (which is what the poster asked about) only come in standard and 40 series, both of which use the 14mm hex.

velocity 40 series (http://www.prolineracing.com/proline/wheels/2669/2669.html)
velocity standard (http://www.prolineracing.com/proline/wheels/2660/2660.html)
velocity 23mm 40 series (http://www.prolineracing.com/proline/wheels/2678/2678.html)
velocity 23mm standard (http://www.prolineracing.com/proline/wheels/2682-84/2682-84.html)
i think you are confusing the velocity 6 and the velocity.

their naming is confusing. why are you going to name 2 totally different style rims with an almost identical name (just add a number to the end of one). i mean, you've got colored dish rims vs. chrome spoked wheels. opposite ends of the spectrum there!
