Yes and no. I know some claim a big power increase going to something like a MotorSaver filter, but I'm suspicious that most of this power increase resulted from the added air flow giving the engine a more optimum air/fuel ratio for where the needles were set (tuning was not optimum). When I switched, I'm not sure there was a significant power increase. I did have to richen slightly, so there is an apparent increase in air flow.

Ive heard they've changed size of the element in the MS filter though and its causing probs not staying closed. The older, bigger filter element exerted more pressure on the latching mechanism keeping it closed more reliably apparently. I've got an older one and have not had that kind of prob. I didn't change the filter on my other Tmaxx though. I just wasn't that impressed. I Think stock is a pretty good filter.

Especially if you'll clean it - I keep 5 cleaned and oiled elements in a baggy ready to swap and about every hr will put a clean one in. That is a definite advantage of the MS filter - it will go a lot longer between cleanings than the stocker.

i personally think that the traxxas filter is very restrictive. I prefer the MS filter with the stock revo neck.
