I was looking through the forum and saw some awesome bodies with carbon fiber on them and I was wondering how do they get that CF look? Is it difficult to achieve or is it easy? I've heard that you can get the CF look by using drywall tape, is this the easiest method? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the boards!!

Using the search button (your friend and mine), here's the two best ways to do a cf effect:

This is a good one. (http://rc-cars.net/rccp/PAINTfolder/paint11/paintcarbon.htm)
Here's one done by the master, CharlieB. (http://www.airbrushtalk.com/abtv4n5.htm#barnes)

Both methods work with little to no effort and turn out great. Hope this helps.

For more info on tutorials and walk throughs, look at this thread (http://forums.radiocontrolzone.com/showthread.php?t=184401&highlight=carbon+tutorial) or do a search for "step by step" and you'll see works by Sneezer and Fester2004 to help you out.

do you think I could use a fine window mesh (for window screens) to get the same effect? I could make a little tacky with some spray adhesive. Do you think it'll work? I know they sell nylon (or is it plastic?) mesh in rolls for window screens. Thanks for the responses! I've asked this same question in other forums and got the cold shoulder time and time again, so it's nice to actually get a reply! :)

TC3, there is no right or wrong thing to use. You could try it and see how it works. Some of the most inane objects become tools to use in painting, examples being drawer liners and drywall tape. Branch out and see if it works for you. I don't recommend using spray adhesives in the event they come off onto the body. If you try it, let us know how it works (show us pics too). It may not give you the effect you're after, but it might spark some imagination in some other painters to use your experience for their masterpiece.
