Hey Folks!
I'm posting in this area by suggestion. The problem I'm having is with the Park Zone P-51 on launch. After posting this problem in the main forum, 2 other guys replied having the exact same incident.

First launch was pilot error, (overlooking an important step to ensure the speed controller was reading inputs correctly) under powering the plane on take-off. Belly landing, only prop damage.

Second launch, (this is the problem) it dipped a little, so I added slight back pressure, and the plane began to climb, then it snap rolled to the left and crashed. To my surprise, very little damage (right wing tip ding, and spinner back-plate shattered). I felt the plane was a bit under powered and wondered if anyone else has been flying the PZ P-51, and what their thoughts were. Two guys responded stating that their P-51s also snapped to the left, (even with full right aileron input!) and bought the farm. Both of their planes are totalled. Fortunately, aside from waiting on a part, mine's good to go. The problem is, I'M NOT! I'm really concerned that I'll end up with a $200 heap O' crap instead of the advertised "fun out of the box".

While I've got this down time for parts, if anyone who's flown this bird, good or bad experience with it, can suggest anything, I'd be most grateful.

No, I haven't flown it!! (It's only been a few minutes since the post!)

I did some more research and found this on a PZ review.

‘Due to the large propeller, when launching, do not use full throttle else the plane will torque roll over on its left side and crash. Grasp the fuselage behind the wing and give a hard flat throw so the plane can gain speed, then apply full throttle to accelerate and climb out. :D

Yes! I'm now excited again about flying this fury O' foam!!

Found this in the thread link above...

"went flying with some folks this evening who happen to own PZ mustangs....they had experienced all sorts of grief launching. i demonstrated my easy launch method for them. here is what they were doing wrong:

full throttle launch.....torque overpowers the ailerons at zero airspeed (the full-scale P-51 will roll onto it's back with full throttle applied while sitting still!)

drooping ailerons....both examples i looked at had wash in thanks to aileron TE that was probably 1/16" below wing TE...BAD BAD BAD!!

trying to launch like it was a cub.....ya gotta take a few steps with it to help it up to airspeed

throwing at the ground....aim downfield at a spot about 100 yds. from you

half throttle launches with corrected aileron TE had these guys smiling!! now they love the plane."
