Hello all,
Here is a really dumb question. I bought a used RC10T4 that came with an Airtronics AM radio and receiver. I also just bought a Pro 2 that comes with a Futaba AM receiver only. Can I just take the crystal out of the receiver on the RC10T4 and use it in the Futaba. I assume I can since they are both 27 Mhz AM. Am I correct?
Thanks for the help,

Yes you are correct. Biggest thing with AM is that the crystal are matching manufactures.

Nope, won't work. Airtronics and Futaba use opposite shifts.
Positive Shift:
Airtronics, JR, Multiplex
Negative Shift:
Futaba/Hitec

^^^ Exactly, Airtronics and Futaba won't work.
And the only luck I've had making the "correct" pairing work was in using 2 of the same crystals as came with the tx. I tried a futaba tx using a futaba crystal to run a Hitec rx using a hitec crystal. Wouldn't work until I replaced the Hitec rx crystal with a Futaba crystal.

just to get things clear...
1. the crystal pairs have to be from the same manufacture.
2. the reciever and transmitter can be different.
is that correct?

Well, after I read Mavrick0's post, I tried it and they did work. Did I do any damage or if they are opposite shift will they just not work.

Jeckler is right when it comes to FM 75Mhz not AM or 27Mhz FM. Wish you guys would read the entire post sometimes. AM and 27Mhz FM there is not any phase shifting so as long as the crystals are matching pairs/manufactures then they will work with any radio, RX combo on AM or 27Mhz FM. Smigs you didn't do any damage nor will you. The reason the crystals must be the same manufacturer is everyone has slightly different tolerances and between two different companies they could be off slightly and not work together.

Yes... the only thing you need to be careful of is your wiring. The older airtronics servo leads were wired differently then the standard now. So you just need to make sure that the wires are in the right order.
