I have an Evader ST with the stock radio gear and was interested in upgrading the steering servo and I was wanting a high torque servo in the 30-40 dollar range. My main contender was going to the Hitec 645-MG servo but ive done some searching on it and have read what looks to be alot of these particular servos dieing on people and wanted some opinions on this servo and some more suggestions. All I do is mostly bash in the backyard with a hope of one day being able to race if there is ever a track built near me sometime soon.

I have this 645 servo in my 8th scale buggy right now. It is actually my spare servo since my digital servo stripped its gears. FWIW, I only ran it for 2 races now and so far its still going.

I have a 645 in my t3. I love it but its too slow. Id sugguest the 625 instead. Its alot faster but its not as strong. But dont worry its strong enough for a stadium truck. As for realiability, ive had mine for 3 years with no problems.

I would recommend to stay away form Hitec 6 series servos. They use a 3 pole motor that tends to go out. I've gone through enough 645's and they are slow IMO. They are good for a back up just to get you through a weekend, but seem to be unreliable from my experience.
I would go with the 9 series servos though. I've been using a 5945 for 3 years now. It's been used and abused and still keeps kicking. If it were to go out this weekend, I would still be happy with it, since my buddies Airtronics don't last that long. Not bad for a $90 servo!!
I also use a 925 in my ST. It's had Nitro all over it off and on from racing for 10 months now and it's going strong.
Look for coreless motor servos.

Standard Hitec servos have a habit of not centering very well, doesn't seem to make much of a difference how old they are or how they've been run. I kept getting the 6 series servos used from eBay purchases/trades, had to send almost every one of them in to Hitec to be fixed. The digital 9 series though, much better in just about every way. They're still not (imho) up there with KO, Airtronics, and some Futaba servos but they're light years ahead of the cheaper models. Hitec used to fix servos for free, so sending them in wasn't a big deal - now they have a flat fee listed on their website for servo repair.

I have a Hitec HS-925MG servo in my NTC3... all I can say is that I'm not looking back from Coreless in steering Servo's.

With Throttle Servo's analog Servo's are probably better becuse Coreless and Digital suck up more juice than Analog Servo's.
