Just bought an Art-Tech Cessna with a 4-channel radio. I have a question about radios. What chanel is the throttle usually on, rudder, elevator, and ailerons? Is there a standard? They supplied a sim with it and the WIN2000/XP sys the 4-channel set up is rudder ch-1, Elevator ch-2 Aileron ch-3, and Throttle ch-4. For the WIN98?me sys the set up is different. Rudder ch-4, Elevator ch-2 Aileron ch-1, and throttle ch-3! The radio in the plane is set up as the WIN98 sys? What gives? Aren't all two stick radios set up the same? My throttle control is on the left stick, isn't that the same for all radios? I cannot find an Art-Tech web site to look for radio information. Any help will be gratefully accepted. Thanks Ralf

The radio should come with instructions with a page that tells you this, but if not, my Futaba is setup like this:
Ch.1-Ailerons
Ch.2-Elevator
Ch.3-Throttle
Ch.4-Rudder
Hope this helps. Plus, just try moving the sticks and see what if they are in the correct position.

Futaba and Hitec follow the channels listed by Cub lover. JR and airtronics follow different channel assignments. Not sure about other makers.

I am trying to get into this on the cheap (already have spent thousands on R/C cars and the wife is watching my budget!) to make sure I'll like it before I spend much more. Got the plane (Cessna 182 same as the one PARKFLYER imports) on E-bay and it came with minimal instructions. I have checked the wiring on the plane and it looks like the above set up. They list two variations in the instructions it is set on what they call "mode II" . Have been busy and am trying to get the flight sim (FMS) working with the actual radio so I can get sim time before I attempt to fly the real plane. Thanks Rakf

Well Ralf, "Mode 2" is simply telling oyu the setup of the controls. For us right handers, mode 2 puts elevator and ailerons on the right stick and rudder and throttle on the left stick. In case you did not already know this, the throttle is the one that moves and stays where it is put, the others will spring back to center or neutral stick.
Good luck.

Ralf 13,
These articles may be able to clear up some confusion around radios and their use. Feel free to ask questions after you read them.
