Im making my Jato go on a diet. I want to lose as much weight as possible, without going overboard (nothing extremely expensive). Ive swapped the ez-start for an Ofna starter similar to a roto start to save 4 ounces. Lunsford racing TB's saved 9 grams. besides that, i cant really think of anything else. I just want to shed some weight. so my next step is lighter rims. whats the lightest 2.2" rim out there? im guessing some dished rims from proline, but im not sure. also, any other suggestions on what to do to save weight? I have RPM talonz on now..not heavy, but their certainly not light.

i would also say the proline wheels would be best bet..just take stuff off that you know doesnt serve a purpose other than looks.
Maybe some lighter screws? Titanium is really light, strong and therefore also expensive.

Do not buy Ti screws they are easy to strip out, and you do not get enough performance out of them to justify the price. Here is what I would do to a Jato to make it race worthy:
-Buy a starter box and install a non-pull back plate on the engine (much lighter, easier to start, and allows the engine to rev higher)
-Change the engine to a legal .12, a Sirio Evo 2 would be a nice choice
-Remove the plastic mud gaurds on the chassis
-Remove the roll bar
-Install the single speed conversion
-Faster, torquier, and metal gear servo (Hitec 5625 or 5925 would be good choices)
-Aluminum tuned pipe
-Traxxas lightweight nylon dish rims
-TIRES! The most important part, find out what works at your track and make sure you've got a set or two. Plus a few other treads to tune for different track condidtion (dry, wet, rough, clay, soft dirt, etc)
-A few other springs, check out the tuning guide for the Jato on the traxxas site
-CVD driveshafts if your running on a high bite track
If I were to buy a Jato that's what I would do to it.
