i'm not a real big fan of bullet connectors but want a fast way to change motors, anyone ever use deans plugs in place of the bullets?

Most club racers use deans on their batteries and hardwire their motors. I personally prefer not to be married to my soldering iron at a race and I also like being able to get everything out of the car in a rush, so I use deans all the way around, including the motor.

yep use deans for all my connection, just easy and I only have to burn my fingers now and then.

you will see most people with deans connectors. my only recommendation is that you use a different color shrink wrap for the motor and battery. this way you will not plug them in wrong.
deans sells them as m/f pack and a female pack (4pcs)

You do not need different shrink for the motor and battery. Just make sure that you put male ends on the motor and the esc input, then put females on the battery and esc output. That way you cannot short anything. Directly from the instructiuon on the package.

Right, never place the male deans on a battery unless you like to see it get shorted out and spark.

if you wire the deans up right you will have no problem. In fact, there is a diagram for proper wiring on the back of each deans package (sigh...). Some serious racers do solder the wires directly to the engine as someone else pointed out. However, that is a old way of doing things. Deans is pretty much a standard way now becuase of its very low resistance and ability to handle alot of heat. They are the best connectors that money can buy.

I have deans connectors on my charger (black box to charger, made adaptors to charger tamiya for the ez and roto starts on my nitro, etc).

you cant go wrong with them. Just makes sure to get pigtails if you need em or direct soldering them on.
