well you could with a lot of thinking and customizing but it'll probably cost you more than a nitro kit or rtr

yeah you would just be better off to pick up a nitro car from the start..it would cost more than you could get a nitro car for..and not to mention the time you would have in making everything work etc.

kk tnx but i have a mate who has the whole nitro engine and exhuast and the rest set up from a tt01 but hes not using it,
how would i go about doing that (do i have to change the plastic parts to aluminium beacue of the speed the engine goes at? )
tnx!!

There is no set of instructions for something like this. Like anything else, it can be done, but it will take alot of tinkering and fabricating of parts to get it to work. If you're good with your hands it would probably be a fun project, if not, it's probably not really worth the aggravation. Best thing to do would be get the stuff from your friend and at least sit down with them and give it a shot.

well if you really want to do this you'll need a metal chassis(basically you'll just bolt your diff cases on it) but the harder part will be the braking mechanism

well ive tried to jus place it on the chassis it just bout fits, the differrentials fit sort of ok its jus im realy scared to run the engine or no because things mite go flying every where

You really need an aluminium chassis, preferably double decked for stiffness. It helps with heat dissipation. Plastic just isn't solid enough for the stresses.
I saw a brake system on a vintage all-steel(!!) nitro buggy once, it was actually just a metal strip bent around the top and one side of the clutch bell that dragged against it when pulled by the servo. Amazingly it locked the wheels on that 15lb behemoth. You will need to replace both the strip and bell very often though methinks.

wait if you have a TT-01 you could technically use many of the parts- Tamiya makes a nitro sedan that shares some of its parts with the TT-01. Its the TGS. BUT it would still be cheaper to get a nitro kit instead that doesn't have an engine and just use your buddy's engine. Check ebay or the buy/sell, look for "rollers" they don't have engines or electronics

i don't now how the tgs is but you might use its rear assembly with its brake

I'd say, if you're asking this question if the first place, don't try doing it.

Just buy a nitro RTR. :)

Us dirt oval guys do it all the time. As a mater of fact about 75% of the nitro sprint car kits out there are based on electric buggies of one type or another.
As for just taking out an electric motor and slapping in a nitro burner, well thats not gonna work. At minimum it will take a new chassis and possibly a few other changes depending on vehicle.

wel im sorry to dissapoint you but i did it!!!!!!!! lol i used the same chassis (just made it a bit wider because of the engine) and put a 2 speed gears on there,it doesnt have brake or reverse i dont know if they come with them though, the shaft broke so i got a alumiuin shaft and it works fine its just the tanks rattles too much and i cant bolt it down, otherwise it cost me NOTHING but £7.00 from ebay for the shaft, all in the time of my half term holidays!
i should get some pictures in
tnx for the help people

No dissappointment here, good for you :) If you are looking for a short term solution for the tank, try a little Shoo-Goo to hold it down. Look forward to the pics!!

and how do you slow the car like say for a turn or emergency stop?

mybutcrack

well the servo has two parts to it (when you accelarate one part moves when you pull the stick back the other part moves)which then pulls a rod connected to my custom made disc brakes :)
my cameras broken i need some money to buy a new one :( i thought about selling this car but ...that wouldnt work out .....
and emergency stop has a button,
but i need help on the tuning part can somone tell which screws are for what please
tnx!!
