The buggy is definitely a MP-6, judging from the front upper arm, steering plate and center diff plate. The problem with identifying the MP5 and MP6 is that about 90% of their parts are interchangeable, but from initial impressions it's definitely a MP6.
The second car has me completely dumbfounded, sorry. Looks like a model made during the early '90s, perhaps a predecessor of the SuperTen series.

i thought the rear upper links were different too.that is: rear turnbuckles instead of upper arms on the mp6

Looking at the radio plate, diff housings and "A"- arms, it looks like a super 10. I can't tell from the pic, but what is the item in front of the rear suspension and behind the engine?

I think it's a Super 10 also. It looks like a RX battery pack tied to the rear shock tower. Here's another Super 10 pic

That's what I originally assumed but I didn't realize the front shock towers were actually available for it. Good call.

It looks like that car has some "home brew" parts on it like the front shock tower. The front hubs also look modified to me (widened?)

The first one is most definitely not a MP-5/MP-6. It looks most like a Kyosho Inferno or a Turbo Inferno missing a few hop-ups. Check this out for Inferno/Turbo Inferno pics-Inferno/Turbo Inferno (http://forums.radiocontrolzone.com/showthread.php?t=35901&page=1&pp=25)
Here is a pic of a stock MP-5-MP-5 (http://freespace.virgin.net/radio.racer/Strd-MP5-no-shell.jpg)
For those that want to know there is more than just a different chassis from MP-5 to MP-6, here is a list-MP-5 to MP-6 (http://freespace.virgin.net/radio.racer/mp5_6_comparison.htm)
Here are a few more good sites for pics and info-http://freespace.virgin.net/radio.racer/
