Hey guys,

Just trying to complete my toolbox so that I can race finally for the 2006 season. Can you guys help me out with your choices on an affordable & Reliable Power Supply?

If I have to spend $125 on the Associated LRP 14A power supply, so be it, but if there is an equal at a lower price please let me know. I'v noticed that the Novak 10A power supply is discontinued, but available on e-bay for about 40 - 50 bucks.

I plan on using the power supply to power up two chargers & possibly a charger & motor lathe towards mid season.

Any input will be greatly appreciated. You can PM me at AIM which is DestrosG60@aim.com or e-mail me at Wycliffe919@yahoo.com

Thanks

10 amps probably won't be enough power to run two chargers and a lathe if you want to do them all at the same time...or even both chargers at the same time. For racing I imagine you'll end up charging at at least 5 amps...so there's your two chargers right there with no room for anything else.

I have a Radio Shack 15 amp PS that I got for about $70. I don't race and haven't really stressed it out a lot so far, but it runs my MRC 969 charging two packs at 4.5 amps without even getting warm (at least not that I've noticed). Still, if you hunted around I believe you could find a cheaper PS with the same (or more) output.

Radio shack also has a 25 amp power supply. It does a great job and is somewhat affordable. under $125. It's available online or at a bigger radio shack store.

We just had this discussion over on the electric forum.

The one from Hobby People looks very promising -- $50 for handling up to 20 amps...

You could try Duracomm 18Amp continious. It's about $100, and worth the $$, you may find it cheaper, that was the price about 1 1/2 yr ago. I also have the Dynamite, which is very nice but a bit pricey. Go to the track, see what's out there, you'd be surprised.

Big Big help guys, well appreciated. The Pyramid looks good for the taking. Kind of Bulky, but I guess I'll just have to arrive at the track early and claim my space :D

On second thought, after reading some more threads, I'm considering the more bang for the buck by going to radio shack. Once again thanks for your help guys.

I'm also starting a little project by trying to convert my Hpi RS4 sport to a drift car. Any one selling a 2-speed transmission for it. I've checked a few websites which say that it is discontinued. Also any set-up advice on drifting with an Hpi RS4 sport.
