I have an older T-maxx .15 that i picked up the other day, the guy at the hobby shop said it had a bad clutch in the tranny so he tossed in a new one. I replaced the clutch and put everything back together, the problem i am having is getting the truck to start and just sit there, I have idled it down to the point where it dies and brought it back up....other problem I am having and I think its related, when I hit the brake most of the time it kills the motor, it was where it would always kill the motor but I have adjusted on it to where its now just some of the time. is there a chance that the problem is the centrifical clutch on the motor???

It sounds like you just need to raise your idle a little and lean the high speed needle a hair(1/8th of a turn). It wouldn't hurt to make sure the clutch shoes aren't melted as well.

Nah, it's dying when you apply the breaks because your throttle linkage is set wrong. You have it set so that the carb is open a little bit when you are idling. To fix this, you can turn the throttle trim on the controller so it stays completely closed (but not so far that it's hitting the breaks). Then tune the motor so that it idles higher, and you should be set!

I already checked and adjusted the linkages (they were way off) its acting like the clutch isnt disengaging and when I hit the brakes it is stalling the motor. When I pulled the clutch it looked fine but this is my first nitro car/truck Im used to boats and we have direct driver there

Try turning your idle screw clockwise 1/2 turn and see if that helps.

It it seems like your clutch isn't disengaging, then it would probably be because the idle is too high...are you sure this isn't the case?

I have it idled just high enough to keep it running, any more and it dies, when i had it apart the clutch spring was very loose looking but I dont know how it should look

Did you check to make sure your carb is open just a little bit when the brake is fully applied?

checked that, on a whim I called a hobby shop in the area that has a couple guys on the rc car circuit, they said the old style t-maxx clutch was heavy and would engage at too low of a speed, it was fine with the old stock motors but when they upgraded to the 2.5 the redesigned them, since Im not running the stock motor Im guessing thats my problem and the new style clutch should fix it

I've never heard of that problem, but it's worth a shot!
