I was driving it at my local beach and got sand inside the carb and scratched the piston sleeve and practically have no compression . Im thinking of getting the 2.5R or the os .18tm....what will give me more power and speed. Anybody have any other engine suggestions. Please help.

Ohhh, i would get the os .18 tm it would give you lots more power but why spend 200$ for a new motor when you can get a new p/s for 50$ and clean out the engine? but the os engine would give you more power, but if you want alot of power get a sirio .23 drop in motor. it will have alot if power but you would have to get aluminum diff cases and upgrade the driveshafts. and other driveline parts.

18 TM for sure, men trust me.. lots of power, speed, torque plus is an os so you know is realible and easy to tune.

No comparison between the 2.5 and the 18TM, get the 18TM, you won't be sorry you did!

.18 TM definitely. I love it's reliability.

If sand got in the engine then a simple p/s swap probably won't do the trick. You'll probably need bearings and maybe a conrod and crankshaft too. You'll easily have more in parts than a new 2.5r will cost. Traxxas engine exchange is only $99 for the 2.5r.
If it were me, I'd put an OS engine in but I'd probably opt for the .18 CV-RX. There's a bit more to the swap and it's not quite as powerful but it's only $99 too. Also, your drivetrain won't be as abused with the CV-RX as the TM.

One of my freinds they put one of those huge 5 hp engines in there Maxx and it took for ever to re-build the chassis to fit it but when it was done that thing just flew , but I dont recomend that .
