Hey guys, I got a nice combo setup today... Got bored so I tried running my G-Maxx carbon fiber emaxx with 4 shocks, a Twist 42, 4s 3500 mah lipo, Mtroniks Truck and geared 15/66. Revo rims and Response tires. Total weight 7.5 pounds but otherwise pretty much stock.
Funny thing was that it was only doing low 30's in first gear but it was really quick. I mean, quick! After 5 minutes of full on race simulation, the batts were 119, controller was 90 and motor was 85. It is 50 degrees outside today.
It sounds like a freaking formula 1 car going by on a MT... I think if I go racing this winter, I'm gonna go this setup. 4s lipo with a Twist 42 and ultralight setup. I think if I chop out unecessary parts, I'll be down to 7 pounds. I should get rid of those stock sliders too.
Because the gearing was so short, I was able to keep wheelies and backflips to a minimum because throttle control is that much better with a high rev setup vs. a low rev high torque setup. Sure, I was running the motor at 60,000 rpm for a long time, but motor was only 85 degrees - can't figure that out. Maybe the motor is just really efficient at high RPMs?
