I'm thinking about getting an HV-Maxx for my birthday, and sticking it in a rusty and either running it with the HV 4400 motor, or hooking up a 5800 or 4300 motor to it and running 8 to 12 cells. Has anyone else done this, and if so, what were your results (break your tranny? did it hold up well? overheating issues with the fan on it? insane wheelies? blah blah blah)? Thanks ya'll.
Edit- Forgot to mention I'd run the 5800 or 4300 motor with a velociti rotor conversion.:D

i dont think the motor would hold up to that many rpm's it would probably explode, and if not from the rpm's probably from the heat, but who knows until you try.
i tried a titan motor in my evader and ran 12 cells with 33/77 gearing and it almost wanted to pull wheelies(from a stand still) and pretty damn good top speed (35-45mph guess) with that rediculous gearing and stock tires. The only drawback was the weight, and if you crashed from it being uncontrolable at those high speeds all that weight would certainly destroy any truck.

The 5800 was run up to 12 cells on here by some dude in an evader. The loaded RPM on the 5800 is around 4000-4200 probably, so 4200 x 14.4 = 60480. That's within the "limits" of a brushless motor (about 65k is probably the max). Heat will become an issue though, you're right. I may just use the motor it comes with or a 4300 motor. Decisions decisions...:D Thanks for your input with the titan. If one titan does that to an evader, I can only imagine what a system designed to replace TWO titans will do...:D

i always hear diff. max rpm's for the novaks' so i dont know what to believe, but it would be an expensive set-up to get and then destroy... haha. so i was just letting you know, cause you can probably get the same top speed with something else and not have to worry about exploding your sweet set-up.
im gonna be running a feigao 380c 13t with 4s lipo when i can get money for a charger and batts, Ive heard nothing but good stuff with the 380c's, the kv's on the 13t is 3145 with about 14.8 volts through it. approx. 14.8v X approx. 3145kv = 46,546rpm's unloaded at max eff. with a top rpms rated for the motor at 50,000, plus i get all that torque too so i can run a decently high gearing if i want mad speed, or a lower gearing for really long run times. So all in all its supposed to be a light, fast, long run time set-up. I hope thats what i get.

Very cool! I'm just guesstimating the novak's max RPMs based on a bunch of other 400 size motors. I figure that if I use the HV maxx, if I blow it, it's either covered by warranty or VERY cheap to replace (probably 100 bucks max to replace the system if I'm at fault). Plus they're a reputable company. But a 380C 13t on 4s is gonna be disgustingly fast. Better check your diff often...:D

i did every upgrade possible to my diffs/gearbox. metal gears and carbide balls all around
