Just wondering which Novak GTB brushless system you guys would recomend in a Losi xxx-4 G+? The buggy is going to be run on an indoor track this winter and possibly an outdoor moto-cross style track next summer..

I'd go with the 5.5 with a 4wd. You can hook up some power. It Should be very fast. I have the 6.5/LIPO combo in a T4 and it's on the verge of being overpowered for racing, which I like ;) . Of course, it's 2wd. I just have trouble finding traction some times. There are a few guys around here who run the 5.5 in a 2wd truck with no problem.
I'm going to a race tomarrow and I know a guy who just put a 5.5 in a xxx4. If I get the chance I'll check it out and see how it performs.

Thanks, that would be great! LMK how it did..

This is my first electric vehicle since my Tamiya Fox 20 years ago :) I am VERY formiliar with nitro rc. But when it comes to electric, I am learning quick.. The reason why I am going brushless is because of it having little to no maintenance. But sill offering top-level performance..

are there and positives for brushed motors? (any thing that would make them better over brushless?)

The only thing brushed has over brushless is the speed control. Brushed ESCs are more easily available, and more American companies make them so that getting one serviced would be easier. Novak is changing that with their GTB system, and Castle Creations is/will as well.

Are there any performance benifites?

Also, Any one know the cheapest place selling the GTB's?

Sensorless are generally more powerful, but for 1/10 applications the Novak GTB systems are just fine. OptimaMan compared the Feigao 380C 6t with the GTB 5.5, and they got about the same speed, but the 5.5 pulled slightly fewer amps.

The sensored brushless systems are as smooth as brushed systems, so really, the only thing better about brushed is the wide selection of winds. Btw, the gtb can also run brushed motors. The 5.5 (8-9 turn brushed performance) should suit your needs.

According to Optimaman's graphs, kv is around 6500 under a load.

that sounds pretty damn sweet, i guess i know why its limited to 4-6 cells , i was kinda hoping i would be able to run 7 cells without risking damage, has anyone tryed to?
Thanks

5.5, thats what I run in my xxxt truck, and love it, sometime I have to cut back the epa on the throttle, but I would rather do that, then need more power and not have it.

I just got the 6.5 at Tower.. no place had the 5.5 at a resonable price. Besides, tower has coupons and free shipping which really made ti a good deal.. Maybe down the road i will pick up the 5.5 motor if i need more power..
