OK, i've found a place online that sells it, but not in the lengths i need. does anyone know anywhere that sells it in 6ft lengths? the longest i've been able to find is 40" lengths.
btw in case you are curious as to the application, sail mast, i asked here because the sailboat forum is, well slow :P

go to www.dragonplate.com (http://www.dragonplate.com) they have CF rod, and if you call or email them they may custom fab a piece in that length if they do not offer it from the website.

I hope you don't mind me asking but what exactly are you trying to for here with your mast? I've been on a full sized sail boat (not sure if your talking about RC here or not :o ) that had two free standing carbon fiber masts! Yes thats Free STANDING! masts. It was very cool! I just wondered if you were after something like that. Its a neat design, expensive but very cool. Its also nice because it greatly simplifies a lot of the rigging and other structures on the boat that would normally be needed to help support the mast. Apparently the carbon fiber they used is so rigid it needs no outside support. Like I said cool, but very VERY expensive.

the 1:1 scale masts you are speaking of, they would have to be solid right?
yeah that would be expensive

Right they were solid and very expensive.
Heck I'll post a picture. When I got the opportunity to ride on the boat, I was actually doing some research with the Monterey Bay Aquarium. I think Science classes and aquarium member can also go on the boat for educational purposes in a "Science under Sail" program. (or something like that)
Here is a picture the boat is called the Derek M. Baylis after the man who designed and built it.

the mast is going in front of the the keel just a bit and there still will be a jib. i calculated the length of the mast according to the scale we set and it is 62 inches (not including what goes under the deck. the boat we are using is the lunarossa. it looks like you know your boats so if you have any suggestions on anything please feel free to let me know :)

That carbon mast is awesome... I would guess that under hard winds it would flex enough to never worry about breaking too...

Try kite stores online as well. We use CF rods as spars.

Looks like a great project, and I wish you luck, but I don't know that much about boats. Just how to sail them, and even then my knowledge is very very limited! I know most of what I do from my dad and windsurfing lol. I was just interested because of the use of the CF in the masts, but sounds like a great build. Good luck with it, and have fun with your build. You can email me if you want some more pictures of the Baylis, or you can just search around the Monterey Bay Aquarium's website for some more info. I'll try to help as much as I can, but like I said I don't know that much. I'm mostly a car guy :D
