I can't believe I am the only one who runs 1/10 scale touring cars in my part of NC..
how long does it take you to get to Goldsboro? There are a lot of guys traveling farther than you would need to, to race at rosewood. There aren't many options for Touring in NC.

Here in WNC (Asheville) its slow starting for Touring cars. We started racing back in May of 2005, sometimes with just 4 or 5 guys. We are hoping that 2006 brings us more racers. Good luck to you guys!!!

What we did was post flyers at local supermarkets, hobby shops, anywhere we couldfind a bullitan board. I also called the local papers and got them to run some announcements about meetings in the community schedule. It was slow at first, but we picked up club members.
We use a basketball court at the city Rec Park to set up our track, have a deal with the city, $75.00 use fee for 12 races, and then an additional $5 for any more races we want to hold.
The track is made from 4" sewer PVC pipe, ripped in half lengthwise on a table saw, so the barriers are 2" high. Did the same with Tees, 90 and 45 degree elbows, ripped them in half... then hold every thing together with sheetrock screws. Made 18" diameter dots from 1/4" masonite, with a piece of 1"x on top, to attach the end of a pipe to, for hairpin turns... painted the dots bright orange.
Found a free scoring program, use manual keyboard entry for each car, but it works great! Look at : www.rctiming.com for a system called LapsFree.
It takes less than an hour for 3-4 people to set up the track, the pipe nests inside each other, so enough pipe for a 40'x90' track fits in a 4' wide by 8" high, 10' long area. It all easily fits on the roof racks of my old Bronco II, weights very little.

You are brain dead!
Durham has a track that will run Nitro and Electric Touring come spring time. Maybe even 12th scale.
Rosewood has 3 tracks. Indoor carpet for electric Touring, Mini's, and 12th scale. Outdoor asphalt for Nitro and Electric Touring and 12th scale and Mini's. And an outdoor offroad track for 1/8th nitro buggies and truggies. Maybe even some 1/10 nitro trucks if they show up.
Wilson has some concrete and dirt oval I believe.
Sandhills has indoor carpet oval and outdoor offroad..
And I'm sure there are tons of other oval and dirt tracks around...
lol....calm down Jimmy and btw ThunderAlley in wilson also has an off-road and an indoor off-road for 1/18th.

I'm going to build my own cause I don't have the time to drive a hour each way to race.
ok, you were right Jimmy.

Right about what.. being brain dead or about Wilson? :D :p
Brain dead of course. I can't think of more than 4-5 people we race with that don't have to drive at least an hour to race at Rosewood and we usually have 20 drivers or more?

Honestly I can't think of any track that is totally supported by it's "locals" that only drive 5 or 10 minutes to get to the track. My trips to Durham are 1h20m. My trips to VA Beach are around 3hours. MD is around 5hours. Of course that's me.. :D

Now, my drive to our track here in Asheville is less than 5 minutes. So far, the farthest any of our club members has to drive is less than 20 minutes
Some of us do travel to Easley, that is just over an hour's trip. If you want to race, you either travel, or make it happen locally!
I'm going to build my own cause I don't have the time to drive a hour each way to race.

I'm not familiar with Washington. I don't know where Clark Neck Road is. Can you be a little more specific--where's the parking lot???
Is it oval or touring car track??
