Hello all ,

i've just received my lehner 5300 and i've realised that there's no plate place
on the shaft for the pinion screw.
there 's always one on brushed mortors.

With a such torque on a brushless motor , how could i be sure the pinion wille be fixed on the shaft without turning around the shaft ?

Do you understand what i mean ?
sorry i dont speak very well english :-)

thanks

just tighten the pinion down a lot it will be fine.
I use a feigoa 540 8s and that does not have a flat for the grub screw and thats fine.

just dremel a flat spot on the shaft.

With my motors that have no flat spot I just tighten the pinion down a lot (be careful not to over-do it though). I did grind a flat spot for a pinion onto one of my Feigao 540's though and it works fine.

Yes i thought to do it too .

that 's what i was thinking, T4 pinions are made in aluminium :/

ok thanks all for your feedback ;)

i have tried just tightening the grub down before with no luck, that is when i just said forget - dremel the flat spot.

if you tighten the grub screw too much you run the risk of either stripping grub, or not being able to remove the grubwhen you need to change it.

i have the 4200 and never needed to make a flat spot. I use robinson pinions with the 5-40 set screws. Works fine.

i know when i first setup Stampede #2 with lehner 5300 no matter how tight i made the grub screw, even with liquid threadlock it would still come loose. not till i ground the flat spot on the shaft and used liquid threadlock would stay put.

I run a Feigao 540 12s in my Rustler on 3s Lipo, and use the standard Robinson Racing pinions. Every few minutes, I will have to go to the car and tighten the grub screw on the pinion. Even with blue thread lock this is necessary. Since the latest bashing I have done has almost removed the endbell, I think I will take the rotor out of the can and Dremel a flat spot onto the shaft. That should fix the problem.

i have dremeled a flat spot on my Nemisis 12s in my rustler as well, but i havent run it yet. do you like the 12s, and is it fast enough for you?

tcolesen,

You don't need to take the rotor out of the can to dremel a flat spot. You just need to put a plastic bag over the motor and let the shaft poke through a hole. I did this with my 540 6s.

I realize that, but I will have to take the rear endbell off anyways to epoxy it back together.

justin,

I also have a 12s and its more than fast enough. Its more power than a 1/10 st can put down my t4 is able to pull rolling wheelies at 45mph. on 12-14 cells or 4s lipos you should be able to get about 60mph.

i am wondering if it will still be able to pull wheelies with my wheelbase stretched to 13.75"
