I am looking to reduce the weight in my traxxas revo, and was wondering when it comes to replacing parts which is the best alternative? Plastic or Aluminum

If weight is the concern, stay with plastic. If you go alum, you will def gain weight.

Get the F.O.C...losing all that equipment needed to make the truck run in reverse will be substantial. Next, get a high torque servo and use it to convert to a single servo steering system. Get a NiMh Rx pack instead of the 4cell alkaline pack. This will likley shed a little weight with the added benefit of making your servos perform better. You can also look at different wheel/tire combos. Im not sure which would be the lightest...but there's numerous options out there. My best guess would be Proline Wabash or Velocity wheels combined with their Crime Fighter tires. There's more you could look into...this will be a good start. Evrything really depends on how fanatical you want to get.

This Co. makes a carbon fiber chassis for the Revo. They state that it sheds 40-50% of the weight of the stock chassis.

get rid of all the plastic boxes and cut the bumpers.

if you wanna trim weight on your trucks, you may wanna consider the ff:
go pullstart... shed that weight from the starter motor
upgrade to 1 hi-torque steering servo... take the extra servo off
go FOC... take out the rev servo and rev assy in tranny.
stay plastic... alum will make your truck heavier
choose you lightweight rims& tire combo...
upgrage from steel to lightweight alum turnbuckles and pushrods
