Ok I just put up a post reguarding a controller for the xxx4 that will fit. I WAS planning on running the lehner basic 5300. But Ive read a lot of other posts with guys running 380 size motors and keeping up with the brushed motors. this site have a lot of guys who are into brushless thats why I came here. I want to be able to keep up with a good 12x2 mod motor.Any other ideas would be helpful. Thank you.

In my expierence, the lehner 4200 will keep up with a 12 turn if geared correctly. Mine has kept up with 10t motors in sedan racing.

I think the 5300 will be a bit overkill for any type of racing I bet. I think the 4200 will be a better choice.

The 5300 would work fine..and be faster than most brushed motors (outrun a 12 wind for sure), but if your running on a medium/small track or you tend to hit things a lot go for the 4200.

The Feigao 380C's are also a good option, a 7t one of them is like a 5300, and a 9t one is like a 4200, they're dirt cheap as well.

I have the 380c 9t in my xxx4 and on 6 cells, it's equal to a 12 turn brushed motor. You can also gear this motor pretty high when running only 6 cells. The 380c 7t is more like a 9-10 turn. You might want to go with the 380c 8t. Starluckrc has them I think.

With smaller 380c 7thru9 turn motors what size controller can I run? I saw in a post here a few days ago someone was running a 380 motor with a 25 amp mamba in a b4. I know the xxx4 is heavier maybe I can get away with a 35 amp controller? Thanks for all the replies.

I would say a 60 amp controller would be able to handle all three motors. The mamba25 is somewhat underrated, so other 25 amp controllers might not be able to handle the 380c 9t.

I think its www.hobbypeople.net that stock the Mtroniks Genesis Sport Plus controller, this is a 60 burst, 40 amp constant controller thats a bit lighter than the Pro, and a bit cheaper ($130).

An ideal setup would be the 9t on 3s lipo with that controller, or another in the Mtroniks range. If your limited to 6 NIMH the 8t wouldn't overstress the controller but would give good speed.
