Hi, new here. Been looking for a whilie but my first post. Seems like a cool site.
Anyways, I have had a few cars in the past, so im not totally new to r/c, but have been away for quite some time.
My buddie and I are buying some monster trucks soon, but im torn on which way to go. We will not be racing but more for fun and bashing.
1. gas or electric? I had a T-Maxx and loved it but didnt like the maintence, so im leaning maybe to elect. but still love the sound of gas(hardest choice).
2. Next, we'll be launching jumps a lot. Does it matter if it's elect. or gas to get better in air control of the truck(up/down), do they respond the same.
3. Im leaning right now either T or E Maxx, Whats else is good for jumping and speed?
I want a monster, maybe a stadium, and want 4 wheel drive.
Thanks for any opinions.

for what you want to do with it id say get an hpi savage, they are good for jumping because they are virtually indistructable

I would get the T-Maxx out of what you have decided, but if you want something that flys good in the air, get the Revo. :D :D :D

if it was me, i would stick with nitro!!!! electric won't give you the power and longer run time that nitro rc can offer. and maintenance is always half part of the hobby. i really enjoy keeping my trucks in rtr condition..
as for truck choice for jumping, i would want something durable... savage would be a good choice.. but then again, a t-maxx/revo with a lil hop-ups would suit my needs as well... that's just my 0.2

I have an emaxx t maxx and mgt....... The emaxx sees the most running, but the mgt is by far my favorite truck.......... Its alot beefier out of the box than the t e maxx, and much easier to work on than the savage........

If you can spend some more money I would possibly consider looking at a LST2.

e-zilla no way , u neeed to put a novak brushless system or any brushless system to get an decent speed out of them the stock e-zilla goes less than 40 kmh thats barely anything untill you put a brushless motor in a whopping 80 kmh will come out of this bad boy but i reckon you should stick with nitro , the maintinence isnt to high ( im a newb and i find it easy ) these are the trucks id look into :

cen nemesis

kyosho giga crusher sf ( this is the single engine version faster than the dual motor version )

traxxas revo

hpi savage

traxxas t-maxx

thinder tiger mta-4 ( there is also a .28 engine for it now to give it more umph )

or stadium trucks are good aswell

traxxas jato

hong nor x1crt

Definitely go nitro, that's where the big air is! At SlapMaFro (http://www.slapmafro.com) we've bashed/jumped/crashed the crap out of our Savages and they just keep coming back for more, so if you plan on being rather hard on your vehicle, get a Savage. If you can (and want to) build a kit, I'd get the Savage SS 4.6 (http://www.smfstore.com/product_info.php?cPath=62&products_id=231).

Other good options are the Traxxas Revo (tough and handles well, but I don't like that engine much at all), the Associated MGT (nearly as tough as the Savage), and the Losi LST2. The Losi is one of the most fun-to-drive RTRs I've experienced with great acceleration, speed, and handling! But it's down a notch in the durability department.

i hate to say it but I don't think nitro gives long run times... I have 6 nitro vehicles and have 4 elecs. The elec. run with the nitros but charging batts sucks big time.

You're right, a tank of nitro doesn't last much (if any) longer than a battery pack in an electric, but with a good tune you can just refill the tank and keep on going!
